Chapter 9: Alternate Reality

During the times of modern, there is one librarian that is not so librarian like and that librarian is LizzyC. Today, Lizzy is helping Ms. Liz with the anime program. The Children’s Room Auditorium was packed to the max. Right about now, the kids were playing video games. And it was no surprise that Fabian was there to join in on the fun. As usual, Fabian and Michael were talking and playing video games at the same time. Who is at the desk you ask? Well it was no other then Denise.
Just as everything was going good, the electricity short circuited. Ms. Liz tried plugging the television and the games back in the socket but, it didn’t work. So Lizzy had an idea. What was her idea to solve this problem you ask? Well, let’s find out now.
“I have an idea,” Lizzy suggested to Ms. Liz.
“Let’s hear it,” Ms. Liz replied.
“I’m going use alchemy,” Lizzy said.
“Good luck,” Ms. Liz replied, “The main outlet is right there.”
Lizzy nodded and got ready to use alchemy. Lizzy walked over to the socket, she put her gloves on and then, she pushed on the outlet. All of a sudden, Lizzy screamed and was getting sucked into what seems to be a vortex between realities. As soon as Denise heard the scream, she told Lucy to watch the desk. Denise ran into the room and saw Lizzy getting sucked into the vortex. Everyone in the room got together and tried to pull Lizzy out of the vortex but it didn’t work. Lizzy went through the vortex and a few seconds later; a girl that looked like Lizzy was thrown out of the vortex.
“Well kids,” Ms. Liz said, “That’s what happens when you use alchemy.”
“Wait a second,” The girl said, “I was just about ready to enter the library and now I am here?”
“Oh no,” Ms. Liz said, “Looks like we have Lizzy but, a Lizzy from an alternate reality.”
“Wow, my fictional world is real!” The girl said, “This is so awesome!”
“What are we suppose to do?” Denise asked, “And how do we get our Lizzy back?”
“Maybe I could use my magic to open the vortex.” Ms. Liz replied to Denise.
Ms. Liz took out her wand and tried her best to open the vortex but it didn’t work. Now they were worried about their Lizzy and wondered how she is doing in the alternate reality she got sent to. Let’s see how Reality-A Lizzy is doing.
As soon as Lizzy got on her feet and looked around, she knew she wasn’t in her reality anymore. Lizzy looked at a guy that seemed like the Charles she knows. So, she walked over to him.
“Hello Charles,” Lizzy said.
“Hey Lizzy, how are you doing?” Reality-B Charles asked.
“I’m surprised, that’s all,” Lizzy replied, “Is this the year 20--?”
“Nope,” Reality-B Charles said, “You know it’s the year 2007.”
“Wow,” Lizzy replied, “Not only I am an alternate reality but, I am also in the past?”
“What are you talking about?” Charles asked as he was pondering.
“You might not believe me,” Lizzy replied, “But, this isn’t my world. Don’t you notice something different about me?”
“You look older,” Reality-B Charles said, “Well, if you like…I can help you get back to your world.”
“Thanks,” Lizzy replied, “Do you think Ms. Liz would believe me?”
“I don’t know,” Reality-B Charles said, “I’m not even sure if I believe you but, I wouldn’t turn down a lady in distress.”
Lizzy just laughed lightly and walked to the children’s department to talk to Reality-B Denise.
Meanwhile in Reality-A, Reality-B Lizzy looks around and is freaked out. She didn’t know her fiction would come to life like this. She not only screamed when she saw a demon in the library, she also freaked out when she saw Mr. Adams.
“Where in the world is Lizzy Corkelly Collins-De-Arc?” Mr. Adams asked in anger.
“Well, Lizzy tried to fix the electrical problem with alchemy and a vortex sent to another reality,” Denise replied.
“Well I hate to say this but, you guys are now responsible for this girl,” Mr. Adams said.
“But sir, she is nineteen years old,” Ms. Liz replied.
“No ifs or butts about it!” Mr. Adams said.
“So you’re telling us that we also have to get her back to her reality as well?” Denise asked.
“Yes, that’s what you guys have to do,” Mr. Adams replied.
Reality-B Lizzy kept staring at Mr. Adams as if he was some type of freak show.
“Didn’t your mother teach you not to stare at people?” Mr. Adams asked Reality-B Lizzy.
“Uh…yeah but, I didn’t know you were a real person. I thought you were just fictional.” Reality-B Lizzy replied.
“We’re just as real as you are,” Mr. Adams said as he walked back to his office.
Reality-B Lizzy went to a table, took out her laptop and started adding her to her fictional story but, it didn’t change anything. Fabian walked over to Reality-B Lizzy and smiled at her.
“You know, writing your way home won’t help you,” Fabian said.
“I know but, I really miss my reality. Things are weird here,” Reality-B Lizzy replied.
“Come hang out with Michael and me for a bit,” Fabian said.
“I guess I’ll have to do that,” Reality-B Lizzy replied as she packed up her laptop and went with Fabian.
“Guess who I brought,” Fabian said happily.
“Who did you bring?” Michael asked.
“It’s Lizzy!” Fabian replied.
“You know that’s not our Lizzy, right?” Michael said.
“I know but still, she is lonely and afraid,” Fabian replied, “Someone has to keep her company.”
Michael nodded and walked out of the small office to find a book. Fabian showed Reality-B Lizzy all the fun things about this reality’s library and town.
Meanwhile in Reality-B, Lizzy is talking to Reality-B Denise. Let’s see what they are talking about.
“So my husband is right then,” Reality-B Denise said to Lizzy, “There are other realities then our own.”
Lizzy nodded and then she asked, “Does your husband know how to get me back home?”
“I don’t think so,” Reality-B Denise replied, “But don’t worry, you’ll get back.”
“I sure hope so,” Lizzy said, “This world is too serious and real.”
Ms. Liz walked into the room and said hello to Lizzy and Denise.
“So, what’s new Lizzy?” Reality-B Ms. Liz asked.
“Well, if you count being sucked into a vortex and then ending up in a world where everything is just weird then yeah…I guess that’s what I’ll call new,” Lizzy said as she laughed lightly.
“Don’t tell me your stories are getting to your head now,” Reality-B Ms. Liz replied as she laughed slightly.
“Liz,” Reality-B Denise said, “You know how some sci-fi shows talk about alternate realities.”
“What about them, Denise?” Reality-B Ms. Liz asked.
“Well, what if those realities were real?” Reality-B Denise said.
“Oh, now I get it,” Reality-B Ms. Liz replied, “But, how will us average human beings open a reality vortex?”
“I don’t know,” Reality-B Denise said, “It’s up to the other side.
“Well, I’m going to figure out on how to get back home,” Lizzy said as she went to look for Reality-B Charles.
Back in Reality-A, Fabian and Reality-B Lizzy is playing the new virtual battling game. So far, Fabian and Reality-B Lizzy are beating the other players.
“It’s not fair,” Lawrence said as he glared at Fabian and Reality-B Lizzy, “She’s not even from this reality but yet, she is kicking all of our butts.”
“Relax,” Fabian replied, “It’s just a game.”
Then Reality-B Lizzy beat Fabian as well. That’s when Fabian got mad and started to complain.
“You know, you’re right Lawrence,” Fabian said, “It isn’t fair. Let’s see if she can beat us at this game.”
“Yeah, I bet they don’t even have this game or this kind of technology in her reality” Lawrence replied.
They switched games with a click of a button. Reality-B Lizzy was amazed by that.
“You don’t have to change the disc?” Reality-B Lizzy asked.
“Nope, you only have to change memory chips,” Fabian replied, “Be prepared to get beaten!”
Reality-B Lizzy nodded and they started playing the game. This game was hard for Reality-B Lizzy since she never played a game like this before. This game required you to wear motion sensors and you were given a random object in the game to use as a weapon. When the game began, Reality-B Lizzy didn’t know how to use the umbrella as a weapon in the game, she was the first one to get eliminated from the game. As Ms. Liz was talking to Ted, they finally came up with a plan on how to get their Lizzy back.
“The plan is to try to get a hold of Lizzy in Reality-B,” Ted asked Ms. Liz.
“Yes, that is the plan,” Ms. Liz replied, “It’s going to be tough though but it can be done.”
“What do you need me to do?” Ted asked Ms. Liz.
“Well, find Charles and Larry,” Ms. Liz replied, “We will need them for this to work.”
Ted ran off to find Charles and Larry. Meanwhile in Reality-B, Lizzy is sad. She isn’t used to this reality. She still had her powers and abilities but, she couldn’t use them without people eyeballing her as if she was a freak. Lizzy looked at the books Reality-B Ms. Liz was trying to fix. Lizzy took one of the books, moved her finger across the spine of the book that was torn off its spine. Then Lizzy put the book back in its cover and clapped it closed. The book looked as good as new. Reality-B Ms. Liz was surprised.
“How did you do that?” Reality-B Ms. Liz asked.
“It wasn’t really that beaten up,” Lizzy replied, “It just needed a little TLC.”
“Oh,” Ms. Liz said, “But you did something! I know it.”
Lizzy was in trouble now, now that a Reality-B person saw what she really could do. There was only one thing to do and that was to erase her memory. Lizzy didn’t really want to do that. She really didn’t want to tamper with this reality. Then it hit her, what if she erases their memories before she leaves this reality. That’s what she decided to do. Lizzy went to the information desk and saw Charles. Back to Reality-A, Ms. Liz, Larry, Ted, and Charles finally opened the gate. They saw Lizzy talking to Reality-B Charles. Reality-B Lizzy walked in and saw the gate.
“Well Reality-B Lizzy, it’s time for you to go home,” Ms. Liz said.
“All right, take me home!” Reality-B Lizzy replied.
In Reality-B, Lizzy saw the gate and looked at Reality-B Charles.
“Well, it was great knowing you,” Lizzy said, “See you in your dreams!”
“Huh?” Reality-B Charles replied, “Oh, well bye.”
Lizzy jumped into the gate and Reality-B Lizzy jumped in as well. All of a sudden, Reality-B Charles got sucked into the gate and so did Reality-A Charles. Just as Lizzy landed back to her reality and the same for Reality-B Lizzy, Reality-B Charles landed in Reality-A and Reality-A Charles landed in Reality-B.
Larry looked at Reality-B Charles and started shaking him.
“What have you done to Charley-Char?” Larry yelled.
“Who in the world are you and let go of me!” Reality-B Charles replied.
“You took his British accent away,” Larry yelled again as he pushed Reality-B Charles aside.
Reality-B Charles looked around and screamed on the inside. He couldn’t believe he was in this kind of reality. He looked at Ms. Liz, Lizzy, Larry, and then he saw someone he recognized.
“Claudia, you have to help me,” Reality-B Charles said in a panic, “There’s this crazy guy and everyone is some type of supernatural being.”
Claudia just looked at Charles and said, “Of course there are supernatural beings, you’re one yourself, and what happened to your accent?”
“What accent?” Reality-B Charles asked, “I am an American!”
Lizzy ran to where Reality-B Charles was.
“Claudia, we had an electrical problem,” Lizzy said, “At first I was sent to an alternate reality. Then I came back but now, the Charles we all know and care about is in the alternate reality.”
“Wow, that’s just odd,” Claudia replied, “Well, good luck getting back to your reality, Charles.”
“Thanks…” Reality-B Charles replied.
Meanwhile in Reality-B, Charles is having a hard time adjusting to the world around him. The people he knows in his reality are much different in this reality. He was surprised that there was no Larry. He didn’t know who the turn to for help. Then it hit him, what if he asked Reality-B Lizzy to get him out of here? Will his plan work? Nobody really knows.
Back in Reality-A, Lizzy finally figured out how to get Charles back without sending another person to Reality-B.
“Here’s the plan,” Lizzy said, “I’m going to use alchemy to open the gate, while Ms. Liz uses her magic to make a barrier around us. That way we don’t get sucked into the vortex.”
“Sounds like a good plan to me,” Ted replied.
Lizzy followed the steps she needed to follow to open up the gate.
“Step one is complete,” Lizzy said, “Now step two is to open up the gate.”
Lizzy clapped her hands together and the gate started to glow and then the vortex opened. Lizzy jumped in to the vortex with Reality-B Charles. Reality-B Charles looked around and smiled.
“Thanks Lizzy,” Reality-B Charles said.
“No problem,” Lizzy replied.
“Will I ever see you again?” Reality-B Charles asked.
“Nope, but you’ll always have your imagination and dreams,” Lizzy replied as she hugged Reality-B Charles and jumped back into the vortex.
“Wait for me,” Charles said as he ran pass Reality-B Charles and jumped into the vortex.
The vortex closed up and everything was back to normal. Well, as normal as things will get around here. In Reality-B, Reality-B Lizzy looked at Reality-B Charles and smiled.
“What about I treat you to some Starbucks,” Reality-B Charles said to Reality-B Lizzy.
“Ok,” Reality-B Lizzy replied happily, “Thanks Charles.”
They both smiled and went to Starbucks. Back in Reality-A, everyone was glad that things were back to normal. Lizzy also learned not to mix electricity and alchemy together or else, you’ll end up in an alternate reality.
“Thank god your back!” Mr. Adams said as he hugged Lizzy.
Lizzy just looked at Mr. Adams and smiled.
“It’s good to be back,” Lizzy replied as she hugged back.
