So I'm surfing, right? Just kinda chilling, and I stumble across this site.

Misogyny in the Movies

Interested...I click the link and find myself in what could possibly be the single most offensive thing short of insulting my mother.

The author of this article...oh, hell, I'll use quotes from the article and THEN make my point.

"Portrayals of amazon freaks denigrate and pervert women and attack feminine identity and incite in men a lust for sexual violence. These movies are extremely obscene, many are pornographic, they display dominatrix whores who incite lusts for sexual violence, and are an attack on women, the family and civilization."

Okay. Maybe I'm missing something here, but somehow I don't think women who kick ass in movies qualify as "amazon freaks" who "attack feminine identity" and "are dominatrix whores"...unless this guy's talking about bondage pr0n.

Female tough-guys are on half the channels. Macho girls are stomping, kicking and punching a politically correct path through our culture, implanting new and false images into the public psyche. The method of presentation is simple. A man in a woman's body is seen to act like a man and look like a woman. The image itself serves to confuse both men and women -- instantly deconstructing notions of human gender developed by trial and error over many centuries.

Right. I thought notions of gender was all about the genitalia. Seriously. I think what this guy means is "gender roles". Now, he is attacking women who fight in movies, but I think I can safely say that women doing masculine things in general pisses this guy off.
So obviously the fact I helped build sets at the college theatre makes me a whore, too. And the fact that I was in metal shop makes me a whore.

Damn. I never knew I was such a whore. Shame on me!

Moving on..

The author has this to say about the movie "Little Giants" :

But the evil makers of this child abusing obscenity apparently only put her in a cheerleader uniform in order to have an excuse for showing her coming off the sidelines wearing shoulderpads and a helmet along with a cheerleader skirt while playing footabll. They then show the girl involved in violent obscenity with her skirt flying up to show her bare legs and panties as she both is the target of and the perpetrator of violence in full contact football. This is a new low in obscene perversity.

Uh...maybe they put her in a cheerleader skirt because she was a cheerleader in the movie? Jeepers. As far as full contact football being child abuse, I'd better call the cops on the Jr. High football team. Those bastards, letting those poor kids play football! Shame on them!

Naturally, they have to slam a movie where women and men are treated more or less like equals. I'm talking about Starship Troopers.

Go aliens! Death to the bastards who made this hell! Death to the enemies of humanity who celebrate this perversion. Death to anybody who says or thinks females and males are the same or interchangeable. This ain't no sci-fi flick, this is real life war to the bitter death for the future of what it means to be human!

I thought having opposable thumbs and a conscience was what made us human. I'm such an idiot! Of course, it's all about gender roles and stereotypes! That's what makes us human!
No wonder society isn't moving forward...

And Thelma and Louise are "violent man-hating bitches". Excuse me? I thought the whole reason Thelma (or was it Louise) shot that one guy was because he was trying to rape Thelma (or was it Louise)? If defending yourself makes you a violent man-hating bitch, count me in! I'd rather be that than a subservient drudge whose husband expects her to stay in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant, giving him sex whenever he feels like it.

Charlie's Angels got slammed, too. I'm beginning to think the individual who wrote "Misogyny in the Movies" is mentally unbalanced.

Heroes are men, heroines are women -- they are neither. They are Hollywood whores performing violent pornography, stripping away any respect or concern for women and leaving women in the real world powerless against a society of men with testosterone charged lusts to commit sexual violence against women.

That's probably just marketing hype to get the sickos who get into this shit jacked up for the film -- a little fantasy foreplay before the sado-masochism in the movie. Besides, cowardly bitches like these only playact violence safely on screen while women in society are the victims of those who incite the lusts of men to commit violence against women.

WTF? How is Charlie's Angels pornography? And how the hell does it make men want to be violent toward women?
Furthermore, isn't that why women take self-defense classes? So that they won't be victims? Oh, I forgot, women who take self-defense classes are automatically labelled as "amazon freaks" who are "an attack on women, the family and civilization."

Yeesh. When will the people like this be gone? When will sexist attitudes fade away into nothing? When will we realize that it's okay if men and women are equal?

Society isn't going to progress as long as assclowns like the individual who wrote "Misogyny in the Movies" is around.

I can only hope that someday we figure that out.
