Another piece created for one of my finals... alongside "Pretty Eyes"...
This is a concept I have been toying with for my 'Procession of the Dead' series. It is the first coloured one-- one I am not much happy with but I had a deadline and four other paintings to do for that class (3 of which had to be over 22"x30" as is this one) so I had to cut a lot of detail and stuff on this. :( I was also working on a paper type that I didn't realize I had bought and wasn't working out well for the detail I wanted. It was intended to be all watercolour but various puddlings forced me to attack it with some acrylics and we have what you see here. Anyway, I hope you enjoy her-- I'm a little happier with her now that she is finished even though there is a lot wrong with it and there are a lot of details I was forced to leave out due to the paper and time restraints.
I probably will not offer prints of her.

When I first came across this all I could think was 'wow' as I sat dumbfounded taking in this image. I love the color, the slightly downwards tilt of the figure's face, the glowing moon above spattered and grungy, a death moon indeed. A fantastic combination of watercolor and acrylic!

Regardless of the "lack of detail," I really like this. It's got an interesting concept, and I really like how there's this...mm, differentiation between what's done in watercolor and what's done in acrylic. Nice job. :]

Seriously Jay..I don't know what your problem with it is...one of the things I liked about it is that it was so simple....there is fantastic detail in the coloration of the image. SUCK IT UP AND LIKE IT MISSY!(or give it to your weird friend in CO) >.>

I know you're not terribly fond of it...but I really think you're being too hard on yourself..this is one of the best things I've seen from you in a long time. You always do fantastic work but something about this one just stands out. I still can't quite put my finger on what it is...I know you intended it to be more detailed..but as I said before...it's detailed in other ways.
