So if any of you guys have checked out my gallery, I'm more than certain you've seen my Brasalina illustration done of an awesome Poe Ballantine short story named, none other than, you guessed it, Brasalina. Well for my Digital Illustration + Painting 466 class, the last project we were assigned to do was take a single work we've done thus far in the class and add onto it two more pictures to tie in with it to create a series with 3 pieces all together. Because I had so much fun doing the Brasalina assignment, this gave me a chance to plug in more illustrations with this delightful short story that I'd like to fully illustrate the short story myself with every bit of imagery I can squeeze out of it, and I think the next two I added were good additions, if not awesome attempts on my behalf as a start on this self-presumed project.

The next two scenes portray a scene which illustrates Brasalina's 'cha-cha' personality of being this More than Woman, More than Sexy-Chica-Latina-Brazilian personality and two arrows pointing directly to her behind reading "apse" because of Brasalina's accent so characterized in the story itself as she literally checks herself out in a mirror, smacks the flank of her thighs several times and admits she has a "wood apse." Good ass if you couldn't catch the literation... you'd really have to read the story to get it all together, but trust me, it's how it is LOL.

The other piece is another scene in the story where her and her little grandson nicknamed Binky are at the zoo and they were hanging out by this old rhino cage where he suddenly aimed his flanks toward everyone and began hosing everyone down with urine. Binky got away, so did a bunch of other people but Brasalina was hosed down in the crossfire and was just sprayed by a jet of urinary canary yellow, so sad... especially seeing a woman like that pit with such a demise of humility, but it spared it not of being an elusive image in my head I felt enthralled to illustrate.

So there you have it, a 3 set piece of Brasalina as a series, from her arrival, to her encumbrance of personality, to a partial humility... it's all there, and with so much more this story has to offer.

Not to sound cliche, but if sexy ever went out of style, Aardcore has, indeed, brought it back. Brasalina Compilation is a set of three illustrations for a short story, each one packed with color and attitude. It's obvious that Aardcore's put his heart and soul into these paintings, letting his own manic energy truly shine through in each of these pieces, and seen together, the triptych is almost overwhelming with voluptuous vivaciousness. He pairs smart, iconic imagery--whether it be an art historical reference, typography, or abstracted symbol--with feisty figure drawing that is spot-on solid and bursting with life. He even manages to make rhinoceros urine somehow erotic. Be prepared to come away from this piece with a song in your heart and an extra wiggle in your walk.

This is a really excellent piece. All of the colors you've used are stunning together, and it really finds a way to describe the work without words. I especially love the third panel, the paint splatters and that vibrant target behind her really make it pop out.
