Worth the trouble (a demyx story)

The melodouse nocturne sat quietly strumming the strings of his beloved instrument. The sad melody it set off hummed through out the house and settled in on his mood. He sighed and set the sitar down beside him as he reached for a knife that lay on the dresser next to him. He held out his wrist and rolled up the sleeve of his coat.

This had been a custom for him lately. Ever since the day he realized that he wasn’t worth the trouble that those who had a heart were. Though he tried his hardest to convince himself otherwise by saying that he did too have one. Though this thought of his soon died and was replaced with depression. He wanted so badly to believe that he had emotions that he would do anything to prove it.

By going into this state of grief and emotionless depression he was somewhat proving to himself that he could feel. Although Demyx’s current state did not go unnoticed by the other members who tried their best to get through to him. Even Larxene forced herself to show some sympathy toward the other yet to no avail.

Demyx was about to bring the knife down to slash his wrist when he heard his door open. He froze not knowing what to do as he turned to see who was their. “Hey Dem a couple of us were just won-” the voice stopped in mid sentence and slammed the door shut behind it. The cheery expression that, that person had come in with faded and was replaced with anger.

“It’s not what it looks like Xigbar!” Demyx spat out defensively as he stood up and held the knife behind his back. Xigbar was not convinced as he made his way in front of Demyx and grabbed his wrist as he pulled it in front of his face revealing the knife which Demyx clutched to tightly in his fist. “Oh it isn’t is it? Well it looks to me like you were about to cut your wrist am I not correct?” Xigbar asked his voice staying calm as he tightened his grip on the other’s arm and looked at him furiously.

“You wouldn’t understand!” Demyx bit back angrily as his wrist began to shake slightly. Xigbar’s voice got deeper and more threatening as he replied “don’t give me that crap Demyx you know very well about my past life and the things ive done that I’m not proud of that including cutting and I’m telling you now that I will not let you make the same mistakes I did!”

Tears threaten to break free form Demyx’s eyes and he pushed Xigbar away from him roughly as he brought the knife down to his side and stood his ground as Xigbar stumbled back and caught himself. “its my life Xigbar and its not like I have anything worth living for anyway so why don’t you just back off!”

This statement angered Xigbar to such and extent that he couldn’t help but snatch the knife out of Demyx’s hand and throw it across the room as he looked down at him and said “if you even think that for one minute that your not worth caring about your wrong damn it! And I’m telling you this now so listen carefully”. Demyx snapped his eye’s shut afraid to look at the other as Xigbar took in a breath of air before continuing.

“everyone has been worried sick about! Not only that but you should know that as long as I’m around this little depression shit that your going through will stop starting now”. Demy wanted to retort yet bit back doing so as tears rolled down his cheeks and he fell to his knees covering his face with his hands. He snapped his head up suddenly his eyes welling with tears as he mumbled angrily through clenched teeth “I hate you Xigbar!”
