"M A L I C U..." She walked the molten stairs that led to the world above. The music of war echoed down the stairwell to her ears. Tiny sparks jumped from her hooves as they rang clear on the white-hot steps. Like the chime of a busy blacksmiths forge, she continued her way upwards. Close behind her all sixty-three fire elementals eagerly looked past her, begging to join the fight of their non-elemental kin. But they stayed behind, waiting for Malicu to release them on the traitors above.
With only three steps left, she stopped. She knew all too well what would happen if, while she left them unprotected, the fire orbs were to be stolen and removed from the Pits. All her precious elementals could be trapped in the cold world and would die within the hour.
"There is no time. We must fight! Now or never!" With one final leap, she threw herself into the world, flames bursting around her, licking her in greeting. Smoke poured out of her nostrils in anger and her eyes flared up in agony. She could see the Riders collapsing under the overwhelming forces of Montog. "Death to the corrupted! Attack and destroy!" More pits opened around her and living flames were set upon the battlefield.
