The end of his long pilgrimage brought him here to this wretched land. It seemed to be the far end of the world; a place locked in time and vacant, yet still haunted by the spirits of old. All notion of reality and security had to be abandoned before venturing forth, and so it was that no creature traversed here anymore: not beast nor man nor god.

This was where the memories gathered.

This was where it'd all begun.

It was quiet and cold, here. For a moment, the fire within him was cooled, but he knew all too well it would be a fleeting sensation. The incessant condition of his existence nagged yet harder at him each day. It wasn't long, he sensed, before he'd finish what had been started ages ago. Men would be as worms before him and blood would run as rivers. There'd be blood enough to sate his rage for years to come. Finally, inadvertently, he'd perform a modicum of revenge for what the world had done to him.

Still, as he thought of her one last time before descending into the pit, his mind was filled with thoughts of peace.

The Land of Nod is a stunning example of the idea that a monochrome palette need not be boring. SkinnyVee shows a masterful understanding of value structure, keeping all elements distinct, and with a great sense of visual depth, despite a vast degree of detail. The textures here are rich and tangible, in a tantalizing evocation of the senses. The delicate handling of hair, tooth, and claw, is juxtaposed with an immense sense of weighty musculature, in top-notch anatomy. The mood is set with an ominous facial expression and pensive tilt of the head, and the piece is all hued in dusty sepia, evoking a bygone era of strange otherworlds that are spoken of in a written artist's description that's as fascinating as the image, itself.

There's something about this picture that gives off more energy than your fiery fractals.
Can't put a finger on what it is, especially since the place is described as cold and quiet..
