I've been so disenchanted with drawing, lately.

Seriously. It's probably why I haven't uploaded poo in ... a long time. I dunno, I'm not gonna open another tab to check. While it's true I've had a lot going on like visiting with friends, planning my upcoming wedding in January, changing careers again, and chasing down the flighty temptress known as moving the frack outta the South, most of that had nothing to do with my lack of art.

Truth be told, I was just sick of Sonic style. Like, really, really tired of it. I'm not even really a fan of the series anymore. Anybody read the premise for Sonic Rush Adventure? Forgot to put the brakes on a boat? Honestly, who writes this crap? Naturally, the RP's still going, but you can bet your... something... valuable that I haven't played Amy in... months at least. Haven't drawn her, haven't thought of her.

Which brings me to this. This is the character I've been playing; my monkey, Jam. I wanted to actually try to develop a style I could use to distance myself from the Sonic series and totally failed when it came to the facial features. But I'm okay with having a little nod to her roots in that respect since she just doesn't look right without a crazy-roundish head. I did give'er lips (lip, actually), prettier eyes, a chin, and semi-3-D shading, so that's enough difference for me, given everything below the neck.

That's all I really have to say about this, with the exception of drawing unnecessary attention to the full version and all its MONSTROUS detail, which is totally pointless and invisible in the preview size.

Oh, and what's really funny is that this redesign was spurred entirely by the purchase of boots.

Jam is mine, image is mine, aaaaand that's all. Please don't steal.

I like this! Very nice!

Don't worry, I fail when I try to distance myself from a set style, too... T__T

Oh, I like this style very much! I love the details you put into it! ^^

I hate it when life gets overwhelming. Good luck with everything!!! *hugs* (And congrats on the up-coming wedding!!)

LOVE the detail! Particularly her BANDANA! It looks so real Very natural pose with her jacket there.. which I have tried often to do but never pulled it off as well as you have

It's not a TOTAL stray from Sonic style, but it's definitely more interesting and pleasing to the eye (IMO). I'm a sucker for slight variations to the 'traditional' style, like J-Axer and Dawn Best. It's definitely fine and good to use your own flair.
