Mach Rider 2: Fay Howell

Concept of Fay Howell for Mach Rider "2." Like Miyu Lynx, her origins are from the unreleased SNES game, Star Fox 2. Her outfit is inspired by characters from the F-Zero franchise, although she retains her trademark bow. (What with references between F-Zero and Star Fox, I figured the point of no return had already been crossed, so... ;3 )

Fay is basically the brains of the team. A very intelligent young girl, she evaluates situations and can come up with effective and often impressive strategies that give her teammates the upper hand. While Miyu is more interested in diving into the field of battle, Fay is more content with sitting on the sidelands and aiding her teammates in other ways. She's adept at technology and can even create new types of machines and technological gadgets to help her and her friends.

Fay's trusted tool is her special self-made computer, which is attached to her heavy-duty belt. While it appears as nothing more than a keyboard on a robotic arm, when activated a number of holographic screens appear, full of valuable data. It has a constant link to Lylat's data banks, letting her look up almost anything she needs to learn about.

Of course, if necessary, she will go into battle too. Miyu and Fay both have their own special Arwings; while Miyu's is built for optimum attack power, Fay's Arwing is based around defense and endurance. She doesn't think highly of her skills, although her teammates strongly disagree; while not much of an attacker, she pilot's her craft like it's second nature.

And like Miyu, Fay encourages Tora to try flying and has even made a new motorbike deployment ship from a standard-model Arwing. This special Arwing, the "Mach One," was made to integrate the motorcycle into its own controls, hopefully to help Tora fly in a way he feels is more comfortable. Time will tell if it works. :3

Fay has known Miyu since their early days in the cornerian army, where they both worked as mechanics, focused mainly on aircraft. Like Miyu, Fay is also a Star Fox fan, and learned of their adventures through her cousin, Bill Grey. She was willing to join Miyu's ambitious "Nova Cat" team (what would have replaced the former Star Fox), but found herself working with Tora instead. She was welcoming of the circumstances, unlike Miyu, and ended up being an important part of the team. She would receive news of missions and pilot their space vessel, what used to be the Great Fox, to the various worlds in Lylat. She feels for both Miyu and Tora and often ends up having to help them sort out their problems and come up with solutions to them. Not always easy...
