From my Intermediate Painting class. The assignment was to create a painting based on the theme of "reversal"...a depiction of a contradiction, or something ironic, a piece of role-reversal, or something nonsensical.
What we have here is a depiction of a existing contradiction in the world, in the view of what constitutes great art. I've painted a cartoon, which is absolutely "low" art, but I've done it in acrylic as a wall painting, which is generally "high" art. The art in this art is abstract in nature and touted as great, but my own art is figurative in a definite scene. The rendering is flat, but there is an obvious depiction of space. And I'm an illustrator presenting this painting in the context of a class full of fine artists.
...I'm going to Modernist Hell, I know.
(Yes, that is Arrio in a cameo appearance, scarfing on cheese cubes. Thank Technetus. When I was first trying to think of what to paint, his immediate thought was "Arrio in a tuxedo" as being a contradiction.

ARRIO IS MAKING ME GIGGLE.
But I love the style of this. I'm totally attracted to all the blues.
;__; I like mister loudmouth artist guy.. he's adorable. *pets his pretty hair*
SailorPoipoi Says:
The artist himself just makes me laugh! And sadly, his art would fit too well in a modernest gallery.
Arrio deserves them cheese cubes for being soo sneaky and getting it.
Shadow Dinosaur Says:
I see the message!
Nice work ,The blue is works well!
JohnGames Says:
I will buy his art piece for 2,500! Your cartoon I will pay 2 dollars for.
paGLiacciO Says:
That is great, even the soon-to-be-swooning chick with the plump lips.
Actually, if you see some of the things people kiss up to artists for, this is actually quite true.
helga Says:
That's very funny
(I love contradictions)
RESUREYU Says:
Muwhaha! That is genius. At first I thought it was on a lunch box. o_o;
I like how the crowd is colored all simple-like and stuff. =3 Blues.
Minstrel Ayreon Says:
You know...the sad thing is, it's actually true--it's the untalented crap that gets treated like masterpieces. In the "fine art" world it's the modernist crap, and on Sheezy it's the fanart.
elle Says:
Hahahaha, I love the level of depth you thought this out with. Though I am definitely a fan of modernism all the same.
