Ah. Okay. This is for a friend's contest (He's on DA). Originally I was going to draw something with Cameron in it but one evening as I was whining about my lack of inspiration, the proverbial Inspiration Anvil of DOOM (tm) dropped on my head and I thought "Whoa. I should like, draw Kale and Angela together because they have a lot in common but they're contrasty in appearance and IT SHALL BE FUNNY!!"
...
Yeah. This turned out completely different--in every way--than I intended. Firstly, the building was going to be in perspective to the viewer, not straight on. The ledge Angela is sitting on was going to be taller and Kale was going to be standing behind it, with Angela's wings kind of bonking him in the face and he was going to be holding one of her feathers lighting it on fire. Heh. As you can see, that didn't happen. Kale was being a pain and I couldn't get his pose to work out so I finally decided to have him sitting next to Angela but since the whole perspective thing was happening, they wouldn't be looking at each other.
I drew them on separate pages and when I transferred them to the actual bristol board, I realized I couldn't do the perspective thing and they were going to be sitting there looking at each other...playing...footsies??? WTH!? But in the end, I found it amusing enough to leave it be.
So yes. Kale and Angela. He’s a short, cranky, demon germaphobe. She’s a short, paranoid, genetically altered mutant fey…thing (okay…so they’re both short and neurotic). Kale likes to draw and light things on fire. He also likes music and dancing. Angela likes to draw and electrocute/blow things up. She, too, likes music and dancing. Both were created for destructive purposes by crazy, jerk face creeps and they both struggle with the whole not-being-human thing. They both have crazy sisters...
But of course, they have their (obvious and not so obvious) differences as well. Still, somehow I thought they’d get along.
I tried to add bits here and there from things I've read from Plea whether they were character memes or actual stories. Hence the chinese take out, lysol and hand sanitizer, which is behind Angela and pretty much invisible. I got the title from a moment in one of the latest chapters where Cameron likens Kale to an irate gargoyle.

This is absolutely wonderful. The detailing on the building's relief and the background already take my breath away. After a few gasps I can fully apperciate the central figures. The young woman, Angela, her wings look so soft and fluffy and her pose and face just show such relaxation even while posed at the edge of the building. Kale looks like he's just softly snickering to a joke she told. You paid so much attention to little details like the food and glasses to just give this picture such a calm feeling. I applaud you!

I have to say, I still think they sky look awesome. You've got that watery thing down. I like the perspective as it is, to be frank, because it seems like... a shot out of a movie or something. I mean, I can definatly imagine some scene being shot exactly like this, in a way that you can somehow kinda... see the city behind the building, but you really don't.
Plus, you know I like how you shade clothing...
And the windows looks like something out of a children's book.

A picture speaks a thousand words, and this one is no exception. Looks like they're ready for a night on the town, and something's gonna go boom.

Excellent use of watercolour, but then I expect nothing less of your work. I really don't see a big problem with the building -- it gives the center of the piece -- Angela and Kale -- a decorative platform. I really like the composition on this one.
Gorgeous work, as always!
