LoNS; Ch. 3 - The Denial
Chapter 3 - Denial
Hm… Wow this sounds more like a tale than a actual book. There was a picture of the squirrel that an artist who reported how it looked. It was a vicious looking squirrel. As I stared at the picture, I suddenly felt a rush of chills down my spine. I couldn’t breathe for a second. That’s strange… I continued reading it. “Villagers from the city witnessed that the squirrel died what believed that it could not handle such amount of power. It is said to believe that the squirrel after dying released multiple spirits into any object that hold the records of the Ninja Squirrel. The spirit of the real squirrel who has been chosen to gain such a power will be released to ‘the one’”. Bullshit… Just a load of rubbish. I closed the book and as I was about to reach for my pencil, everything blurred and suddenly black. I blink and open my eyes. It was dark and as my vision cleared I realized that I was lying on my bed. “What the freak?! What time is it?!” I looked at my clock and it read 4am. Well at least maybe I should try to come late again but what the hell… Did I like fast forwarded?
I arrived school and before I could reach my locker, I was stopped by Vicky. Vicky, “Hey Tammy! You ok? You look kinda dazed.” “Oh I’m fine don’t worry. Just tired.” “Are you sure? Cause looks like you have a lot in your mind.” I did have a lot on my mind. Vicky is another friend of mine, she’s the most popular out of our group. Every guy thinks she’s cute and such. Especially this one certain guy. Though I was confused because this morning when I was leaving the house, I stumbled over upon bag load of money. “C4, Where did this all come from?” C4, “Well, after you doze off, I decided to log off.” “Do you know when I dozed off?” “Around 6pm. Would you like to review the cameras?” I checked them and I found nothing. It was impossible. No one could’ve broken my security barrier.. No one. For the next few days it kept on happening. I kept on finding more bags of money in my hall and it was really creeping me out.
I started reading more of the book. “The leader, Ninja Squirrel, can change itself but only when the sun sets.” I couldn’t believe it. Maybe, that pulse, that chill I felt few days ago, the spirit, it has chosen me. I just sat there in a daze as if someone important to me died. I wasn’t sure if it was true. I had to stay up this time. I calculated when and what time the sun set. It happened to be exactly 6pm. It was 5:50, and I told some special instructions to C4. “C4, I would like you to record the events that are going to happen. Use code 91 and speed 72. It should capture what is going to happen, and catch up to the speed of the Ninja Squirrel.” C4, “Will do Tammy.” I waited, almost every minute felt like hours. The ticking of the clock’s hand echoed into my head and then the clock struck 6. My clock gongs every count of the number. The ringing echoed deeply into my head as if I was in those horror movies. I didn’t blink. Finally when it gonged it last gong, my whole body pulse. A strong pulse that nearly knocked me off my chair. It pulsed again.
