“One Strange Day at School”
an original screenplay concept

Action: A precocious child [Jand] teams up with a futuristic robot [Beido] to find the true meaning of love. In the process they rescue a bullied friend [Robvar]. By the end of the movie they chase 3 bad guys [Bori, Toia and Keian] away and end up winning the admiration of their teacher [Miss Soia Vali], living happily ever after.
Think Artificial Intelligence meets Radio.
INT. Maiten, Japan at school Morning
A boy sitting on a large rock.
He’s about 15, in a school uniform, his black hair ruffling in the wind.
BOY
(Hears a dead tree branch break)
Who’s there?!
Another boy sheepishly steps out from behind a tree.
He’s 16 but is actually a robot; he just looks like a human. Also wears the uniform
BOY
Sorry! I’m Beido, who are you?
BOY
I’m Jand
(Checks time on his watch)
Ooops, it’s time! I gotta go. Ja ne!
Jand runs off. Beido sighs and leaves as well.
EXT. Maiten, Japan at Jand’s house Day
Jand arrive his home, opens the door
JAND
(Peeking inside)
Hello?
(he sees his mother glaring)
…….Uh-oh
Jand sheepishly walks in, his mother doesn’t look too happy.
MOTHER
Jand! Where were you? Your father and I were worried sick!
JAND
(sighing)
Mother, please! I was at the usual spot, thinking, I’ll eat my breakfast….
Jand walks past his mother into kitchen where he sits down and starts to munch on his bagel. His father walks in.
FATHER
(Shouting)
Jand!
(Calming down and speaking)
Where we-…..
His wife talks to him privately
FATHER
Oh, you should’ve written a note informing us!
JAND
(Sighing, takes a bite of his bagel before speaking)
Mother, Father. I apologize for not telling you earlier. May I please be excused?
(Taking a glance at the clock on the wall)
It’s nearly time.
Both parents sigh and nod. Jand leaves for school.
EXT. Maiten, Japan at school Morning
Jand is seen running to school where he slips into his home classroom.
JAND
(Slipping)
Oh! Argh!
(He catches his balance and bows)
I apologize for being late, Miss Soia-sensei!
MISS SOIA VALLI
(Sighing)
Forgiven. Take a seat, please.
Jand nods, takes a seat next to Beido who taps his shoulder, Jand looks at him.
JAND
What?
BEIDO
Hi! I have to talk to you after school. Alright with you?
JAND
(Glaring and sighing)
Why?
BEIDO
It’s important
JAND
(Irritated)
If it’s so important why don’t you talk to me AFTER class?
BEIDO
(Rolling eyes)
I don’t want anyone to overhear us
JAND
(Slams forehead and look at Miss Soia)
Oh no
MISS SOIA VALLI
(Glaring at Jand and Beido)
Anything you’d care to share with the class?
All students turn to look at Beido and Jand
JAND
(Is mad)
Beido, it’s your fault! Tell the class will ya?!
BEIDO
(Stammering)
I-I-I……......
JAND
(Slams Beido’s back)
BEIDO
(Shouting)
I was talking to Jand about spilling my secret that I’m a robot who looks like a human
(Suddenly realize what he just said)
Uh-Oh
Jand, Miss Soia Valli and rest of class gasps.
EXT. Maiten, Japan at school Noon
Two hours later, Beido had explained everything and Jand had agreed to help him learn the true meaning of love. Miss Soia Vali just rolled her eyes at the boys and banished them from her class. So the boys together decided to skip school and went to where Beido lived.
EXT. Maiten, Japan at Beido’s house Noon
After Beido had made them both lunches, they sat down in living room.
BEIDO
Jand, I’m surprised you didn’t react like other students did.
JAND
Nah, I’m too smart to do such a thing. Besides, you’re my friend.
BEIDO
(Smiles a bit)
Really?
JAND
(Nods)
Hai….It’s nearly time for me to get home, I only have classes until Noon anyway, want me to call my mom and tell her I’ll be home later?
Beido nods, and grabs his cell phone out and dialled his mother’s cell. They talked before Jand hung up
Jand
It’s all set! I can spend the afternoon with you!
