How the hell did we wind up like this?
Why weren't we able, to see the signs that we missed
And try turn the tables

“Sakura, get out of my way or I’ll kill you.”
His tone was serious about what he said as the cool winter breeze shifted lightly, the tree’s weak branches at its mercy of the wind as they bent back and forth like a rocking chair. The tiny sad smile graced her pale face as she stood there, her bright jade eyes watering lightly as she attempted to blink them away.
“Afraid I can’t do that Sasuke-kun, you’ll have to kill me.”
The silence and tension in the air lingered heavily on their shoulders as they stared at each other across the field. His blood red eyes narrowed as he flicked out a kunai from the tan pouch attached to his waist and twirled it around his index finger a few times before grasping the handle tightly and holding it out in front of him. Completely forgetting about the Katana sheathed on his waist, as it waited patiently until it was taken from its sheath to create more bloodshed.
“So be it.”
He muttered darkly, her eyes widened lightly before she frowned in response at his action and pulled out her own kunai. Her legs drifted apart from each other until she had slid into her fighting stance, a kunai in hand also as her eyes reflected the sadness she felt deep inside.

I wish you'd unclench your fists, and unpack your suitcase
Lately there's been too much of this
But don't think it's too late

Metal clashed against metal as sparks flew into the air and came down like rain. Her eyes were narrowed as the blood dripped down the fresh wound on her cheek, jumping backwards she avoided the hurl of shuriken and threw her kunai at him before pulling out another one. He dodged effortlessly and ran toward her once more as the clang of metal sounded off again like an alarm clock that someone forgot to shut off. A battle cry escaped her lips as she jumped into the air and aimed her leg toward him attempting to clearly snap his neck if he didn’t evade, which he did and rolled to the side. Her leg slammed into the tree and it crushed on impact as splinters spilt into the air before landing on the ground, the loud creak of the tree as it began to fall before the boom of it hitting the ground and the branches snapping. Whirling around her pink hair spiraled around her face before she jumped away from another attack and landed across the field.

“Please Sasuke-kun! If you just return now we can be team seven again! Sure you’ll get into a hell of a lot of trouble for betraying the village but please! It’ll be worth it, I promise! Naruto, Kakashi-sensei, and I will be beside you the entire way! Please, don’t do this..”
She sniffled, rubbing away the stray tears that had fallen off her face before it could run across the wounds on her cheeks, and burn into them with the salt mixture.
“Sakura, you’re still annoying as ever.”
His short reply came, and the breath was knocked out of her as she stared at his form which began to blur from the tears that welled in her eyes. This was a vain attempt to stop him and she knew it well, he would never change his mind, he never had any intention of returning even after he killed off his older brother.
“Haruno Sakura, your mission is to either retrieve Uchiha Itachi, or kill him.”
“So you won’t return no matter what I say, is that right Sasuke-kun?!”
She cried out, taking a step forward as he glared at her.
“Hn.”
That was a yes, she knew it and it tore her heart and hopes to pieces. Her head dropped as she stared at the crunched up snow beneath her black boots, the tears falling freely down her cheeks and dripping off her chin before hitting the ground creating small damp spots.

Fists clenched at her sides as she attempted to hide a sob, he had no intention of returning to the village, and she had no intention of returning alive.
“You’re aware Sakura, that this is considered a suicide mission. Right?”
A small ghost of a smile graced her pale lips as she looked up at the male across the field, determination spreading through her body as she pulled the blade from its sheath which rested upon her back. It’s blade glistened in the white moonlight as it hissed lightly before pulling out of its sheath fully. Reflecting her face as she held it in front of her, the tears still running down her cheeks.
“Sakura-chan you can’t do this!”
The male across the field watched with mild interest before throwing his kunai to the side, and unsheathing his own blade that hissed in return before reflecting the impassive face of its master.

Well I'd hope that since we're here anyway
That we could end up saying
Things we've always needed to say
So we could end up staying
Now the story's played out like this
Just like a paperback novel
Let's rewrite an ending that fits
Instead of a Hollywood horror

“So this is it. Only one or none will walk away from this.”
She whispered, her hair shifting in the cold breeze that resembled the bitterness in her voice as she stood there. His face was impassive but unconsciously his charcoal eyes softened ever so lightly, with a small tinge of regret.
It began once more, emotions thrown to the side as they narrowed their eyes and charged at each other both letting out a battle cry that echoed in the distant. The sound of metal clashing and the orange and red sparks going up and out like fireworks constantly, her breathing was heavy and ragged as she stood on the branch of a sturdy tree. The small white puffs of her warm breath hitting the freezing air, as her eyes darted around constantly until she spotted the dark swift movement from her left. Dodging quickly she landed on the ground before they were locked once more in a battle of strength as their blades pressed against each other. Removing one hand from the hilt of her katana she stretched her arm out grasping the beginning of his blade and channeling chakara into her hand as she crushed it and snapped it in half. The blood oozed from the freshly cut wound she created by grasping the blade so tightly as her katana was freely pulled from her grasp and into the ground beside her.

Nothing's wrong, just as long as

The tears were leaking out again as she stared into his charcoal colored eyes,
“Why?”
She whispered quietly, the battle air tension immediately forgotten as he stared down at her frail and short petite form.
“You don’t want to know.”
She frowned at his response lifting her bloody hand up hesitantly before grasping his chin and forcing him to bend down slightly to her height, yet he did so willingly. She knew he could have easily tossed her aside or even killed her now, but he didn’t instead he bent down to her height.
“I don’t want to know. I need to know Sasuke.”
She whispered, as he watched the jade eyes water and the tears fall from them, he quickly and unconsciously brought his hand up swiping the tears away from her face and keeping his hand there.
“I was selfish, and still am.”
Her face scrunched up her lower lip puckered out before she wrapped her arms around his neck and cried into his shoulder.
“Sasuke-kun please!”
She cried out, and he remained motionless for a few moments as he felt his shoulder dampen slightly before his arms hesitantly wrapped around her. Stroking her hair as he gave a pathetic attempt to calm her down,
“I love you so much! Please don’t leave me again! Please I’m begging you, I’ll do anything! I’ve improved since two and a half years ago, I-I’ve been claimed to be stronger then the godaime. I’m a medic nin and can heal you in battle with your brother! Please, just don’t leave me.”
She felt her knees weaken, his other arm was wrapped around her waist before she began to slide down and hit the ground. He fell to the ground with her, in his kneeled position as she continued to cry.

“You could get killed.”
Was his simple reply, that took her breath away with shock as her eyes widened but her clutch onto him only got stronger.
“Sasuke-kun weren’t you planning to kill me anyway?”
He didn’t reply but instead shook his head once in a simple no.
“This was a suicide mission though. I took it willingly, my mission was to find Uchiha Itachi.”
His clutch around her waist tightened as he grabbed a handful of her silky smooth cherry blossom pink hair gently.
“What?”
He whispered slightly shocked, but she continued.
“I was to find information on him, and if I could plan something it was to kill myself and bring him with me.”
His eyes narrowed but he said nothing for a moment letting the information sink in.
“Why would you be stupid and accept a mission like that?”
She smiled against his shoulder as the sobs slowly came to a stop but the tears still freely trailed down her face.
“I knew if I could find Uchiha Itachi, I could find you. I wouldn’t confront you if I could avoid it, because my mission was to kill Uchiha Itachi.”
He wrapped both arms around her and they remained silent.

He listened to the wind shift the branches and the owl in the distance hooting at them, as the moon shone down like a light as if they were on stage.
“You’re annoying and foolish, you know that?”
He whispered, glancing down at her form and she smiled and looked up at him.
“Yeah, I do. If it makes you think of the old times I’ll be as annoying as I can.”
He chuckled and shook his head pressing his forehead up against hers, her jade meeting his onyx eyes as they stared at each other. He leaned forward and gently pressed his lips up against her and she returned the kiss eagerly. Her hands ran through his surprisingly soft raven locks as they remained in a passionate kiss, when the need for air came they pulled away reluctantly their chests equally heaving up and down. His lips met her forehead and she smiled at the touch and closed her eyes. He stared over the top of his head as his lips remained in place on her forehead, for the first time in years he didn’t care about his brother he wanted nothing to do with him. He always knew the girl in his arms was important and never wanted to let her go. Though the suicide mission she accepted would forever keep them apart at his point, because she wasn’t supposed to come back alive or at all.
One hand slid from the confinements of her waist and onto the handle of her blade that remained struck in the ground beside them. Her jade eyes glanced at his hand as he slowly pulled the katana from within the dirt and completely freed it before resting it at his side, he removed his lips from her forehead and looked at her.
“Sakura, lets go together.”
Her eyes widened at what he meant but smiled none the less as she lifted the blade up and pressed herself up against him, his arms wrapped tightly around her waist. Her arms on either side of his head as she lifted the katana up, her hands shook lightly as the tears spilled before she brought the blade down into his back and through her chest and out her back. The blood dripped down her lips as she moved her head back wincing slightly at the feeling of the blade pushing against her flesh and piercing it. He looked down at her, as she kept her hands wrapped around the hilt, his hands clasped the blade that sprout from her back piercing them both.
“I love you Sasuke-kun.”
“Hn.”
She smiled sadly and he leaned up ignoring the pain.
“I love you, too.”
He whispered before his lips pressed against hers in a chaste kiss, she smiled into the kiss as the blood dripped from both the sides of their mouths. Her jade eyes closed as she kept her lips pressed against his. His eyes closed slightly but not all the way so he could look at the pink haired girl before him as they both slowly began to die.
