Untitled Monologue

On that dark night so long ago, the fires burned far and wide. The screams of children and adults alike was enough to make one cry and cower in fear. They watched as their houses burned, and tried to run as the soldiers rushed in, cutting down all in their path. I watched as my house burned, as my father took up his sword and tried to fight back. As he charged ahead he bellowed a fierce battle cry, but all was for naught. Two soldiers came at him, riding their horses hard and fast, looking like devils, and as my father stood there waiting to attack, an arrow struck his chest, he staggered a little, but he did not fall. Then a second and a third hit, bringing him to his knees. I wanted to shout to him, but all I could do was hide in the ruble that was once a barn, crying as I watched a soldier dismount and behead my father. Do you have any idea what that is like?! To see your father lose his head right in front of you. To see soldiers drag your mother off and use her as a whore, raping her over and over again in front of you! To see them then kill her when she is of no more use. There I sat crying at the sight of my dead parents. I had no place to live, no one to comfort me. In that village, there was nothing but ash and the dead. My tears dried, never to come again, as I picked up my father's sword and slung it across my back. I swore to avenge my family and my village, and set off. When our village was attacked, I was but a little girl, after the attack I was a woman bent on vengeance.

Alright, this is something I wrote a while back. This was a request, the person was curious if I could write her a monologue to use in her drama class. I figured I'd post it.
