I've heard a lot of people recently claim to have a lot of trouble with realism drawings, and to only be able to draw anime styles. I was motivated to make a tutorial about drawing both anime and more realistic eyes.

THANK YOU.

I've been struggling on eyes lately.

MithClearwell Says:

Wow, that makes more sense than I thought! Very nice. ^^ The eyes look quite attractive!

D: YES! Eyes are fun! *dances*

geof Says:

hmm. i guess people might have trouble with that. i never really thought people would, though. i don't know why. i guess i figured people that are proficient at anime can also replicate realistic features. this is a really cool tutorial, though. even if it is only three steps.

kenly Says:

you have some great skills with eyes. i can doodle up really nice ones, but when it comes to drawing them -on- a character... yeah. they loose all their 'cool' points.

Jeffk38uk Says:

An easy and understandable tutorial. You can definately see how the subtle details can determine the realism of an eye.

WeNeedThat Says:

cool eyes -^v^-

Tom of Forks Says:

I like the eye one up from the bottom right.

MizuKodomo Says:

wow thank u very much!!
I've been trying to go for more of a Disney look now that I'm pretty good at anime *needs to spread her horizons*
it's true though, you'd think that someone who draws anime would be ok at realism, but usually they just kinda skip over that VEEEERY important basic (I knw I did at one point, bit in the ass later on... >>
so anyway, thanx so much for this tutorial!! it's very helpful!!

EtherealMog Says:

It's strange how people seem to be able to draw anime but not realism, given anime is a stylisation of the very basics of realism.
Other than that rambling point, nice! I like the use of line weight and shadow to give the eyes a very solid form, and the depth in the various pupils with the highlights. Haven't seen too many people focusing just on eyes before, it's nice though. I like the idea at the end as well! Keep it up!!
