Inexplicit

A single dewdrop rests upon the "roses in her eyes"
While petals die with wilted lies, red blooms against black night.
Full moonlight sets her hair aflame and stains her pallid skin.
In truth she seems much more alive than I have ever been.
But cultured sighs awake the day; true beauty is replaced by gray.
The showers reign supreme again and wash the moonlight from her skin.

She never understood the value of day,
And I found myself unable to explain.

I wrote this for an upcoming creative writing meeting I'm attending. Our challenge was to take a song title or song lyrics and build a poem or short story around it. The lyrics from the song "Holland, 1945" by Neutral Milk Hotel are in quotations.

This is an experimental sort of poem. I've put in 4 or 5 reccuring rhymes. However, I haven't given them a specific pattern. They're peppered throughout the poem. (I don't know if there's a name for this sort of poem or not.) I've also made an attempt at dichotomization which is somewhat untraditional through ultra-vivid imagery. Hopefully, I've pulled this off.

tassy, tassy... Fully against my views, this one. Too many of the darn clichés here.. unless they are sarcastic/ironic.
