Finally, here he is, in all his glory, Captain Devin of the Star Foxes Second Battle Company. The Captain's been an elusive model, and I've been trying to pin him down since Christmas of last year. The first model I tried to make for him was a drybrushed disaster - he looks like a gray stone statue. I think this one is a bit of an improvement. A few notes on the model itself. The fox pelt is sculpted entirely out of greenstuff. It marks my first use of armatures, which means there are wires supporting the legs and tail of the pelt. His chest insignia is also sculpted out of greenstuff. His banner is probably the best in the whole Company, a huge improvement over the piece of garbage I made for the veterans. I'll take their new unit picture after I remake their banner, btw. The Chaos Marine corpse was totally dismantled and reassembled in this position, all the gaps filled in with greenstuff and sculpted properly.
The Captain is vaulting over the corpse of a Chaos Space Marine of the Night Lords legion. His helmet is lying on the ground behind him, discarded after it saved his life from a Chaos bolter shell.
I always try to capture as much motion as I can in each model, even the regular schmucks who just stand around and take shots for the heavy weapons and squad leaders. I think this model is the closest I've come to the snapshot of action I've been trying to create for the past few months, but it's still not dynamic enough, I think.
