Our assignment that week was to "draw an animal with fur". I was trying to draw my cats but they just won't hold still. (Even when they're sleeping! Squirmy buggers.) So rather than sit in front of the computer to draw from a photo of them, I cracked open one of my many Big Cat books and picked ye olde black jaguar instead. So, needless to say, this was photo-referenced. But the class is "observation drawing" so it's sort of expected of me when no actual black jaguars are readily available.

Sorry for all these crappy scans, by the way, but my sketchbook is huge and doesn't fit completely on the scanner glass.

Fantastic shading! Black creatures (specially when furry) are really hard to shade!
The eyes are really beautiful! I must say, these sketches that you have been posting here are really cool!
Also this black jaguar makes me want to draw Arga :) To bad I don't have the time for it :/
