Samus Aran's Helmet.
I might do the body as well, but considering I suck this much in 3D studio I'm not sure I will ever finish.

I did two drawings in flash of some fictional version of Samus' helmet wich I used as the basis of this model.
I'm not yet very good in 3D Studio, so I'm pretty proud that I was able to make something this close to my drawings and even add some detail.

There are several flaws, especially in the back, that I'm not able to fix.
The solution? Pretend I originally intended it to look a little battered.

PS: Egg

Added to 3D Artists club:
I might not be a good one, but I'm hoping I can get some help from those who are.
What's a good way to make a character head?
I drew two splines based on the side drawing of the helmet, extruded them, and from there cut the model a bit and modved vertices around.
This let to a quite less-than-perfect visor. ;_; Maybe I should cut away the visor and make a sphere in it's place.
Not to mention the back left of the helmet. Completely.. battered.

Well, this is a pretty good start

A smooth modifier should let this look even better

WCP Says:

More lighting please D=

But it still looks awesome

Metroid fan-ism lately?

I found the egg... Makes it look a ton better.

meshsmooth and smoothing groups are your friends learn to use them and that will look lot better

Zielak Says:

a bit of hyper nurbs on some meshes would do an Awesome :3

General Meister Says:

Can't really say it looks awesome when you make it as reflective as you did. Whenever you have lighting that bright, it's generally a better idea to tone down reflections as opposed to making them stronger, and just introducing an area light (light that casts really nice soft shadows and can have their own shapes essentially) and letting it take care of making the model look shiny.

HeartFlame Says:

it looks good.

clipnotdone Says:

The egg looks awesome to say the least
