Night's Crimson Veil - Part 1
December 12th, 1937.
The luminescent moon showered its eerie, florescent gaze towards the earth below. The stars shone dimly, blotted out by the light emanating from the city of Railing. There had been nothing out of the ordinary this night. Not until, of course, it came. There had been no scream, no noise at all, in fact. There was hardly any chance of a struggle between victim and offender. The few who witnessed the act said that there was nothing strange about it, simply two young lovers in the park.
Of course, that was just their blissful ignorance of something much more terrifying than young love, for the young man’s body was found in that same park the next morning. It was his own fault, really, being seduced. But who could resist something so beautiful? So innocent, so… perfect? Clearly not he, otherwise he might still be living. They found him cold, pale, and strangest of all, bloodless. There was not a trace of injury on him. Not a broken bone, not a scrap of torn skin. At least, until medical examiners discovered twin puncture wounds, perfectly spaced, at the base of his neck.
The majority of Railing were skeptics. But as in every city, there were the few who claimed that whatever it was that had killed the man was something different from themselves altogether. Something supernatural. However, years passed, and the malevolent force never returned during the lifetimes of those living during its first attack.

December 21st, 2007.
70 years had passed since Railing had been struck by a mysterious entity. The story of that night was told to children and grandchildren, who were all equally horrified by the fact that no one knew exactly where the murderer went to. Until one night. The longest night of the year, in fact. June 21st. However, instead of secretively haunting the shadows, the creature revealed its face; unchanged over the past seven decades.
The ‘it’ had been quite inconspicuous, stalking the streets with a graceful staccato step. However, as the last luminous rays of the sun evanesced from the horizon, tragedy struck. The shrill sound of a woman’s scream rang through the city, causing every mortal soul to freeze in their tracks, terrified. As quickly as the scream had resonated through the streets, it died. Citizens stood dumbly, too shocked to move. And that was when it struck.
In a whirlwind of black, the vampiric terror bulldozed through Railing. The terrifying brute strength of the being turned cars, its unearthly speed causing a gale force wind to shriek through the alleyways. Then, brusquely, it halted. Crouched as if ready to spring, the ghoul glared up at the crowd of blanched onlookers. Its appearance was feminine; long hair, black as tar, fell over her shoulders and to the ground in soft waves. Her face; bloodstained, but lovely all the same, was pale as the stars. Thick, dark lashes rimmed her piercing, ruby eyes, which glowered from behind her raven hair. She stood, and snarled before turning, showing off a set of snow white teeth; the canines grossly elongated and sharpened to points at the end. Without warning, she disappeared. The wail of an oblivious child echoed from the crowd. It was over, for now.
