Well, anyways, it's a dude. He's genderly confused, and calls himself Hachi because he relates to
Ai Yazawa's 'Hachi' (cutesy Nana) character. But he's not cutesy. At all.

August relies on him for support, and even though he's quite the emotional midget,
he helps her deal with the death of her parents pretty well.

Oh, he also tends to see things that aren't there. Hence, the 'blood'.
