Vampires Will Never Hurt You- Chapter 2

The first thing Marc noticed about the room was the strong scent of human blood. It made his head throb angrily. He moaned and grabbed his head, cradling it in his hands. He placed two of his fingertips gently on each of his temples and looked up. The room slowly came into focus as his eyes adjusted to the lack of light. Gritting his teeth to keep from moaning in pain, he made his way over to a small canopy bed in the corner of the room. As he approached it, the smell of blood got worse. He was breathing heavily as he stared at the person in the bed. It was hard to make them out in the dark, but being a vampire, Marc was like a cat, he could see pretty well in total darkness. In the bed was a young girl. She was probably 16 or close to it. She had brown hair, that was sprawled all over her pillow and a rather lovely face.

It was all too much for Marc. He collapsed. "Oh please God let her be a heavy sleeper." Marc prayed as he dropped on his hands and knees. Vile was beginning to build up in the back of his throat and he was sweating horribly. "I can't vomit now." he thought, "Not now, please, oh Lord please anytime but now." He grabbed the edge of the bed and pulled himself up. A wave of nausea over came him once more and his knees buckled violently. He grabbed the nightstand next to the bed to steady himself. He wiped the sweat off his forehead with the back of his hand and exhaled slowly. "Just get the girl and get out of here. Just get the girl and you can vomit and pass out.Get the girl and leave and then everything'll be fine." he thought as he stood there gripping the table and wheezing. The fact that he had asthma didn't help the situation at all. He could feel his throat tightening making it harder to breathe.

As he inhaled deeply, he got a great big whiff of human blood. This only deepened his craving. He needed it, now. Not later. Now. Right now. He lowered his face down closer to where she slept in peace. He was about to sink his fangs deeply into her neck, when he stopped. What was happening to him? He stood up straight and let a giant breath escape his lips. Gage had told him before they'd left the house that if he did anything at all, the one thing absolutely could not do was drink her blood in the proximity of the household. Just the thought of what Gage would do if he had disobeyed orders sent a chill down his spin. It was the thought of what Gregor would do.

That scared him the most. Nobody who wanted to exist messed with Gregor. Gregor was the head of one of the most powerful vampire clans in North America, the Williams Clan. He was a kind of dictator to the vampires of his own clan and even other peoples' clans. He was a monster. It was because of him him Marc had to do this inhuman deed. The mere thought of that man could steer anyone to insanity, immortals and mortals alike.

By now Marc had rightened himself. He could this. Sure there had been some minor set backs but now there was nothing that came between him and what he wanted. Blood.

Gage and Felix were becoming restless. It had been 24 minutes since Marc had gone up to retrieve the girl. That had been his one and only task. Get the girl and get out of here."What do you thinks taking so long?" Felix breathed. "I don't know but we can't rush him. He'll be done when he's good and ready." Gage whispered back. But he
too was beginning to worry. Maybe Marc had had such a horrible lust for blood that he had acted. No, he couldn't think about that now. If anything went wrong it was his fault. He had sent Marc up there alone, with no one to control him. Gregor would have his neck for this.Gage looked up at the ceiling. Somewhere up there was his little brother. Somewhere up there was a girl. Somewhere up there ..

Felix's head was beginning to pound. So far everything that could go wrong was. "Rule number one to drinking a mortals blood must always be obeyed and never broken." It was almost as though Gregor was standing next to him whispering in his cold, snake-like voice. Felix shivered. "Never, under any circumstances, are you to drink the blood of a human,or animal, in the proximity where evidence of our existence can be discovered. Remember that rule, and never forget it, because if you ever break it, I'll have your head." "Have my head, eh old man?"Felix thought, smirking into the darkness. "And once you have it, what may I ask are you going to do with it? Hang it on the wall for safe keeping or use it as a paper weight?" But Felix knew, as did everyone else in the Williams clan, Gregor's words were not to be taken lightly. No one was exactly sure what Gregor did with the heads once he'd taken them. Some said that he put them on a shelves in his study. Others said that he put them in a secret potion he made to keep an eye on everybody in the clan. However, when people asked those who thought that he put them in a potion, how exactly that worked, they would just stand and stammer like idiots.. But of course those were just rumors. There was, so far, no solid proof that Gregor even kept them. But knowing the head of his clan, Felix knew that he probably did.

Gage too was jumping to conclusions. There was no proof that anything had gone wrong. Yet. He stared at the dark stairs for what seemed like hours before footsteps made his spin tingle. Someone up there was moving.Gage prayed it was Marc.Neither Gage nor Felix dared to move. They didn't even dare breathe. The foot steps were getting louder and louder, echoing in Gages head like gunfire. "It's got to be Marc," Gage thought. " It just has to be." The footsteps were on the stairs now. If it was Marc, they were safe. If it wasn't, well, they didn't want to think about it. Felix stared at the stairs determinedly as if ready to fight.

The owner of the footsteps, slid into a puddle of moonlight. Both Felix and Gage let out deep breaths in relief. It was Marc, and in his arms was the whole reason they'd come to the house in the first place. Their victim.
