On Saturday I was out with my reenacting unit. We did a living history event in Middletown as part of their Autumn Fest. At living history events, we try to teach the public about some of the unsung heroes of the second World War - at least in America. It's surprising how few people actually understand that the Soviets were our allies during WWII, and even fewer understand that over twenty million men and women on the eastern front fought and bled and died to secure our freedom. Also, it's really fun to watch peoples' faces as they walk past. The looks we get range from admiration to disgust to curiosity.
In this picture, I'm on the left, and Starshina Dan is on the right.

I'm sure you know this already, but they would have had far fewer losses if Stalin didn't take command at times.

I love re-enacting groups, it's so great that people take the time to research and recreate things like that!
