The Same Old Road

I've been walkin for a while now
With no destination in mind
Simply trying to figure out how
I won't get lost at the time.
And yet here I am in that same old place
With my feet still pressed in the dust
I start walkin' again, fall flat on my face
But get up because I must

I'm walking that same old road
My footprints were etched in stone
I'm carrying that same huge load
And I'm carrying it on my own

There isn't a fork in this road I'm walkin
Just a straight, and narrow path.
I've only heard of it through talkin'
About my wretched past.
Yet here I am, walking through the grime
And trying to open my eyes
Walking alone, going out of my mind
Not succeeding no matter what I try

My friends all took a different path
And left me for the unyielding earth
