"Fear is a Mind -KILLER-."

Words I remember good and well. The music behind the level was some of the best you've heard on the Dreamcast, all the while the 'world' about you changed and shifted to a story of how the earth and creatures came and went, with only the will to survive keeping things moving.

Now, this isn't like the other game songs I've done where I redo a song. I kind of placed my own little mix into it, to demonstrate that I'm not simply ripping the music out as it is and posting it up. :)

The instruments I managed to rip were at only 22050KHz, and never played a note higher than that, hence why the MP3 is encoded as such. I had to set my own loop points, and play it by ear, but this is generally what it sounded like in-game.

The hardest part was sorting all the instruments and knowing how they are used. Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out where three instruments went, so they're never used.

This song was done up in none other than ModPlug Tracker in the Impulse Tracker 2 format. :) Doesn't sound like it though, huh?

For those of you who aren't true gaming/audiophiles who haven't paid attention to every music game that kept your head bouncing to the beat, this was originally on the Dreamcast as Rez. It was later released to the PS2, along with a 'Trance Vibrator' in a package. Essentially, something for the girls to play with as it vibrates heavily and to the beat. Good stuff.

In a technical aspect, yes, the Dreamcast was capable of this music. Doi. Half the games you played used a form of MOD music, it was just up to the developers to determine how well they used that technology. Of course, Sega's got some of the best people for the job when it comes to Tracked tunes (Sonic Rush, anyone?), and it was no surprise that they could stuff this kind of music into the Dreamcast's audio-RAM. It's also argued that the Dreamcast build sounds superior to the PS2.

this is a very nice piece you got. I love listening to it because it's so relaxing and kind of keeps me on my toes at the same time. Very unique
