I had to illustrate a Chinese myth about a boy who betrayed his brother in oath (hence the title, creativity has never been one of my virtues). When his house burned down as a result, people claimed to have seen a ginseng bird în the flames.
I didn't know if such a thing as a ginseng bird really existed in China, so I came up with my own version of it. I wanted it to be reminiscent of a ginseng plant, but it still had to look like a real bird.

Wow. Very cool grainy texture on the fire, awesomely well-done shading on the wings, incredible detail and texture on the body; I can practically see the skin beneath the feathers, if that makes sense.
Definitely a yes.
