Intelligent Life. (The truth)

Me and my dad were talking one day while driving...somewhere... And we got down to astronomy and aliens. (I don't know how) This is basically what came out of it:

There is intelligent life out there. Plain and simple. There are zillions upon zillions of stars, galaxies, and planets. There IS intelligent life. But, We will never meet them. Here is why.

The unvierse is constantly expanding at the speed of light. The galaxies are spreading through the universe. All at the speed of light. Well according to Einstein's theory, Nothing will ever be able to move faster than the speed of light. So therefore, if the galaxies are moving away from eachother at the speed of light, expading with the universe, then moving towards one of the galaxies at the speed of light even would be fruitless. You would stay the same distance away from the galaxy, and that's assuming you can even GO the speed of light. You would have to go faster than the speed of light. And even if you could, by the time you got to that galaxy you would be dead from old age. it would take hundreds of years to get to another galaxy, maybe thousands.

So, the only question that remains is; Is this galaxy expanding, or is it just moving with the unvers, the galaxy as a whole. Because if it is expanding then we will never meet another life form. But If it is just moving as a whole, then there is a very very very small chance that life might find us. But they would have to travel faster than the speed of light. Which, again, according to Einstein, is impossible.

So, in conclusion, I leave you with this. There is life out there. Maybe not intelligent, but life none-the-less. But we will never know. The world will be destroyed by the sun before that happens. Becaue you see, Our sun will eventually burn all the hydrogen on it's surface and begin to expand. It will then engulf Mercury, and for a few thousand years Venus will be very habitable. Then the sun will scorch Venus and Earth. Then the sun will eventually burn out. Which leaves about the question of what will happen to the planets once the sun burns out. They will have no orbit due to no gravity from the sun. My theory? They will float off into space until they are sucked into another planet/star's gravity.

So that is another conversation I had with my dad. I love talking about this stuff. Makes me feel so smart. Which...I think I am. You may not, but hey, wtf do you know? xD Anyway. Enjoy my small bit of enlightenment.

This is probably one of the best things I have ever talked about with my dad.
