Alright. Some of you know and some of you don't.
Yes, I'm finally getting off of my lazy ass to work on Bobbleninja.
I actually feel motivated to do it. However, I need help. X_X I don't know how to properly animate walk cycles. Or at least on BN at least.
These are my attempts.
Upper Left: My first attempt at animating him. It looked crap. I asked for some advice from Nalem.
Upper Right: Using the advice I reeceived from Nalem, the walking improved slightly, but I need to do it better somehow, so I searched the internet for a site or source that can help me out with walking cycles.
Bottom Center: Using what I learned from this site I found, I actually did a somewhat decent walk cycle, but still, it kinda looks iffy. Despite the improvement.
And yes, this is the new BN model. That's why it's a bit different.
I want to make Bobbleninja good animation wise and I really need as much help as I can get regarding this. I already got alot of sources regarding this, but I need as much help as I can get.
So please, help me out here guys. I'll accept any form of critiquing or help I can get. I really want this to turn out good.
Thanks.

I think the torso just needs to distort a bit on the middle one, and it'll look fine. Decide if you're going to shade or not, though.
I saw this up on Recent artworked a squeed.
yes. squeed.
Freakin awesome, I'm happy your getting back into this! I've actully got a pretty good walk cycle demonstration that I scanned from a book, if you want to take a look I'll upload it for you.
Anyways, he looks good, I like the far right where his body goes with the motion. =D
AQ Says:
Bottom walk cycle; veeery nice, but I agree with what Aura said: the torso needs a little more movement.
Top right, not so much. Isn't a lot of that motion felling, whereas the one to the right is great.
Keep up the awesome work, Daaave~
for one, use a fps higher than 12.
Shadowii2 Says:
Higher fps and little bit more frames and it will be fine
Wonchop Says:
Well given his nature as a Bobblehead, his feet probably shouldn't move independently at all. Just have him hop places.
If not, you need to make sure that his body raises up and down when he walks. Unless he's gay, that is (not a diss, it's from the Animator's Survival Guide in that gay men and women tend to bob less when walking.)
Migha Says:
A sense of weight is needed, the animation looks somewhat like he's sliding along. I Would suggest making the contact frames seem like the legs are taking the weight of the body when contacting (I'm unsure how though, it seems there is to little leg to buckle)
Also the easiest frame rate for fbf is 24FPS (or 35, I'm unsure)
keicho Says:
the upper right one is perfect, tho there is a huge mistake.
when you walk your arms move differently from your foot, that is when your right arm is in front, your right foot is not in front, but is in the back and so on.
Animation is not always about looking over tutorials but observing how things work, thats how i learned my tricks, use your brain and play smart!
Alright Bobbleninja returns!!! I'm no animator but I think the one on the bottom is very good but then there's him walking forward. Hopefully you'll find a way to do this. I believe in ya man.
Vidda Says:
Okay, I might be redundant because I didn't check out the other critiques.
The upper right one:
His shoulders and body look stiff, it looks like he's moving his shoulders rather than his arms. To fix that, make the shoulders move less toward the screen, and the fists move more toward the screens. That way it will look like he's rotating his arms more than his body.
His head and body should also bob down when his legs are the most spread, and should bob up when his legs are the closest.
The feet only lifts forward then rests when going backwards. When you do a step forward, you put your heel on the floor, then rest your entire feet, then you bring the other leg forward and the first leg backward at the same time. So the feet should rest on the floor before going backwards, not while going backwards.
The bottom one:
Looks very good, but you could make it look better by articulating his elbow so that his forearm goes up more than the rest of his arm. Also, I noticed that only the head bobbed up and down in this one. The reason the body bobs up and down is because legs, when spread apart, are in diagonal, therefore they support the rest of the body from a lower height. So it's the body that should move, not just the head.
