Crossed Path Alchemists 1

Sarah Elric slowly woke up to find herself looking at the bight blue sky before looking at her surroundings. She was shocked to see that she at the graveyard in Risembool and near her mom's grave no less. She slowly got up and dusted herself and looked at her mother's grave before walking a little closer to it.

"Mom..." she muttered with her tears falling.

She took a minute to stay at her mother's grave before heading towards Winry's and Granny Rockbell's house. That way she can talk her brother and tell him she was alright and was back in their hometown She wasn't sure why the only thing she remembered last was she was in apartment while Al was feeding his cat, Rolly.

It took her awhile to get to the house but when she finally made it to the door and was about to knock. She paused and heard the same familiar voices of the Rockbell women that lived there, but there was another, a boy's voice, that seemed to be arguing with the Rockbells.

"Ed! Quit moving around or I'm never going to get your auto-mail fixed!" That was Winry.

"If you hadn't just GRABBED me out of the blue with the sudden decision to fix it it might not be a problem!" The boy seemed to be fighting against Winry about having his auto-mail repaired. Sarah almost snickered.

"Brother, calm down and just let Winry finish." Wait a minute, that was Al's voice. Who would he be calling "Brother?"

A little confused now, Sarah rapped smartly against the door. The house went quiet for a moment, until the silence was broken with "Don't you DARE move, Edward" from Winry. A few footsteps, then the door swung open.

Winry stood in the doorway, speechless for a second. Sarah wondered briefly at what she was staring at.

"Winry, is something wrong?" Sarah asked, raising an eyebrow. She peered around the blonde girl and had to stifle a gasp. Sitting on a stool, with one auto-mail arm resting on a table, was a boy that had the same clothes and hair color she had. She also noticed that they both had the same colored eyes and as for the face, well that's a different story.

“What the hell are you doing here, Envy!?” She yelled at the boy.

................................Central Headquarters (Sarah's world)..............................................

Alphonse Elric stood in front of the office of Colonel Roy Mustang and knocked on the door before waiting again. He could hear Roy say "Enter" and entered the place seeing Roy signing some more paperwork while Hawkeye stood by his side. He sighed, closing the door behind him, and stood in front of Mustang.

"So, what brings you here?" Roy asked signing another paper.

"My sister is missing!" said Alphonse in a worried tone making Roy and Hawkeye look at each other in shock.

"Kid, tell us how did Fullmetal went missing?" Roy questioned with the same worried tone.

"Well.... you see..." Alphonse said explaining the events that lead to disappearance.

Roy listened carefully to what Al was saying and when he was done, he said, "Kid, we're going to do everything to find her no matter what. Go bring us the research Fullmetal was doing, got it?"

"Yes, sir." said Al bowing before leaving the room to go back to the apartment.

"Fullmetal has one hell of explaining to do once we find her.. disappearing like that doesn't happen everyday.." Roy explained.

"That's true, sir." said Hawkeye before looking at Roy's paperwork. "You have a few more to do..."

'Great...' thought Roy with a sigh as he went back to signing more paperwork.

----At the Rockbell Househole (Edward's world)----

Edward Elric stared back at the girl standing in the doorway, who was pointing an accusatory finger at him and yelling something about him being Envy. The girl looked quite like him, and indeed, the other occupants of the house could hardly tell the difference between the two. There were only two differences Ed could notice; this "doppleganger" had his mother's face, and of course, definite "feminine" differences to her body.

"Who the hell are you calling Envy?!" Ed demanded, leaping to his feet. "You're one to be talking!"

"I'm talking to you, you stupid homonculus!" Sarah shouted, clenching her hands into fists in a threatening gesture.

"Brother, do you know what's going on?" Alphonse asked from the corner. He stepped forward toward Sarah.

"And how do you know who we are?" Winry demanded, brandishing a wrench threateningly.

“Winry, stop playing around! It's me, Sarah “Elric”...” Sarah said making Edward, Winry, and Alphonse looked at each other before looking back at Sarah. “Al, why did you call him brother when we don't have one..”

“Huh? What are you talking about? Me and brother don't have a sister.” said Alphonse making Sarah confused.

Sarah didn't know what to say or do as she took her off her gloves before sitting herself down on the couch. She then noticed that they were looking at her two automail arms.

“Come on, Winry, you made these for me, remember?” Sarah said showing them off to her. “You gave me THE left one after I lost my arm putting Al's soul into the armor .... and the right one after Envy cut it off while he had me tried to a cross with that guy's face.”

Edward didn't know what say to this and could see the anger coming from her when she talked about how she lost her right arm, “I hate to do this but I'm going to give that bastard Colonel a call..”

................................Central Headquarters (Edward's world)..............................................

Roy Mustang sat in his office doing paperwork that never seems to leave his desk while Riza stood by his side. The phone rang and Roy answered it happy to take a break from paperwork for a bit. There was a folder on the side of the desk with the words “Mission for Fullmetal” on it with red letters.

“Colonel Roy Mustang speaking....” Roy said before waiting.

“Mustang, it's me..” Edward replied on the other line.

“Ah, Fullmetal, is your girlfriend finished with maintaining your automail? I have an mission for you.” Roy said trying so hard not to laugh.

“She's not... forgot it... I have news..” Edward said before explaining the event that happened. Roy raises his eyebrow when he finished telling him about the girl.

“Interesting... bring her to Central for questioning and that's an order, Fullmetal.” Roy said hanging up the phone and went back to writing his paperwork.

....................Rockbell Home (Edward's World)....................

Ed heaved a sigh as he dropped the phone back onto it's hook. He looked over at Sarah (who still seemed to be practically radiating anger, staring at her automail hands), and said simply, "Colonel Mustang wants to talk to you."

Sarah looked up, raising an eyebrow. "Colonel Mustang?" she repeated. That's it! The colonel has to know something about this! She thought excitedly. "Fine."

"Winry, we're going to leave now," Edward said. "My automail's been fixed up, so there's no reason for us to stay any longer. Come on, Al."

Al stood up, but Winry blocked Ed's path to the door. "Ed, be careful," she said quietly. "This girl really could be dangerous. She acts like she knows everybody, for some reason, and we don't know a thing about her."

Edward gave her a hard look. "Yeah, I know," he said lowly. "But it'll be fine." He looked over Winry's shoulder at Sarah and asked, "Are you coming or what?"

Sarah gave them a cold look. They'd been talking about her. "Yeah, I'm coming," she said, getting to her feet. She picked up her gloves and slid them back on her hands. Ed looked at her automail as she pulled the gloves on. Sarah had said she lost one arm transmuting her brother's soul to a suit of armor, and the other by Envy. He didn't know about Envy, but he'd gotten his automail doing the same thing.

....................The Train (Edward's World)....................

Sarah looked out the window of the train they got out deeply thinking while Edward and Al looked at her. She could tell they didn't trust her at all even though she didn't know why Al was too. She ignored them and kept on thinking about what to tell Colonel Roy Mustang when she meets him.

“Why are Al and Winry acting weird? Why did Al think of this faker as his brother? Man, this is so confusing!” Sarah thought as she put her hands on her face as if she got an headache.

“Are you alright?” asked Al making Sarah look at him.

“Yeah, your big sister is alright..” Sarah answered giving him an smile while Edward raised an eyebrow at her.

“Listen! I don't know who you think you are but he's not your brother!” Edward yelled making Sarah mad.

She was about to talk back to him but knew it was useless so she told them to wake her up when they made it to Central and went fast asleep. This caused her pocket watch and a few pictures fell to the ground. Edward picked them and looked at them and were shocked at what they were seeing in the pictures.

....................Sarah's dream..................

Both Sara and Al were raced down the path to see who would get to the house first as they each carried a basket full of food. The winner to make it home first was none other than Alphonse. Sara high-fived him and used her free hand to open the door. The two entered the house cheerily, winded from their run.

“Mom, we're back with the grocer-” Sara was cut short by a shocking sight. Trisha was lying, unmoving, on the floor. Sara and Al knelt down next to her, eyes wide, shaking their mother gently by the shoulder and calling to her to wake up.

"Al, call the doctor now!" Sara ordered, Al did as he was told while Sara stayed at her mom's side.

.................Back on Train.........................

Sarah jolted awake from her dream. Luckily she had her back turned to the two brothers as she slept, so neither one of them noticed the frightened expression she had on her face.

Rubbing at her eyes with one hand, she sat up slowly. The motion went unnoticed; Ed and Al were busy looking at the pictures that had fallen out of her pocket.

"What the hell is this?" Ed asked in wonderment. The picture he currently held in his right hand was of a rather bizarre sight; it depicted the girl sitting across from him, Sarah, wearing a sleeveless black dress, dancing with the colonel. Now that couldn't be right, could it? There was also another picture of her dancing with Kain Fuery, the master sergeant on Mustang's military team.

He looked at the other two pictures he had in his left hand. They all involved Sarah in some way. One showed the look-alike girl again dressed in a dress, though it was frilly and pink, leaning over a small table with a teacup in hand, looking at a blonde pig-tailed girl with a small smile. Both brother recognized the younger girl as Elysia, Maes Hughes's daughter. What would this Sarah be doing with her?

The last picture was simple, but among the most confusing; It was Sarah and Al, Sarah holding a small cat in her arms as she smiled at the camera.

"Brother, I swear, I've never met this girl before, I don't know why she has this," Al said as his older brother looked up at him expectantly.

"Hey! What the hell are you doing with those!" Sarah demanded suddenly. She jumped to her feet and swiped the pictures out of Ed's hands. "Don't you have any manners? Don't you know it's rude to go through people's things when they're asleep?!"

"They fell out of your pocket!" Ed responded rudely.

"That still doesn't give you the right to look at them!" Sarah hastily shoved the pictures and her pocket watch back into her pocket, but not before both the brothers noticed the watch.

“A...A State Alchemist pocket watch!? How the hell did you get that?” Edward asked trying to get at least some answers.

“I got it from Colonel Roy Mustang... I hope the colonel knows something about all this.” Sarah said leaning back against the leathery seat .

When the train screeched to a halt and the party of three disembarked into the Central train station, Ed couldn't help but notice the confident way Sarah walked through the crowds. Whereas most people would be a little unnerved being in a place they've never been, but Sarah seemed to be completely fine, even content, like she'd been here often.

"I have to warn you, it's not likely the colonel's going to be very easy on you," Edward said.

"Yeah, I'm sure," Sarah said sarcastically with a roll of her eyes.
