Last week I became a new freshman of the Clock Crew Academy, a weekly meeting that pushes our drawing skills to the limit, with the aim to improve over time. This particular week, to celebrate the rise of the new Clock Crew Radio, the theme was to listen to five tracks, and react to what we were listening to. In other words, in limited amounts of time, we drew what popped into our heads when we listened to the tracks.
For this session, I felt that this was one of the best pictures I produced. It was drawn in response to a track I never heard, and during a time limit of around 10 minutes.
The track heard had a sort of 'retro-electronic' feel to it, and this is the theme that this picture represents. The balls in the picture were drawn in for three reasons:
1) The sound of bouncing ball bearings could be heard in track;
2) The floor drawn reminded me of the classic game
Dragon's Lair;
3) In the time left, they were easier to draw than light-cycles.
In retrospect improvements could indeed be made to this picture, such as that light in the bottom right-hand corner. However, I'm quite proud of this, given the time limit.
