How To hack
The first and foremost thing this guide will do is dispel you of two myths.
1. Hackers are people who break into things or otherwise perpetrate malicious acts.
2. Hacking involves computers.
Hackers are people who wonder, then learn, then take that and use it to their advantage.
The simplest example would be to find a stick, wonder what would happen if it was rubbed against something else, rubbing it against many different objects, and finally learning how to create fire.
That is hacking.
However hacking has three sides to it: The white hats, The black hats, And the rogue hats. (also known as grey hats.)
In my simple example, a rogue hat would use it to heat himself, and cook food.
A black hat would use it to attack people with greater effect than simple wooden sticks.
A white hat would use it to surround their encampment with a burning barricade so as to ward off attackers.
White hats discover things to help protect and keep out, black hats discover things to destroy and break in, rogue hats discover things for their own personal benefit.
For a more practical example, I myself hacked my copy of pokemon diamond.
First I wondered if I could manipulate daily events by changing the clock. Second I tried screwing around with the clock, by changing the date, and the time and discovered a method to make it set to the next day, without waiting 24 hours. Finally I used this method to go through all the daily events ingame, at my leisure.
This is a case of "rogue hattedness" I used it for my personal benefit in the game.
A black hat might use such method to cheat at tourneys, by getting hold items, masterballs, and the such, when normally he shouldn't have been able to.
A white hat might use this method to even the odds with the black hat or otherwise keep normal players from being harmed by the black hat's cheating.
Note, that no platform is safe from hacking.
Even reality itself can be hacked.
More surprising, is that the human brain can. You are probably hacked everyday without even realizing it. This makes one of the greatest hacks of all time religion. Several billion people worldwide have fallen to it.
The real hacking isn't the act, but the thoughts behind the act.
Hack life.

WCP Says:
Finally, someone knows what hacking is
I am tired of people thinking that hacking is just getting into the government files and the other hacking like in the movies

When I first saw this I thought it was going to be crap.... BUT, after reading, I find it rather interesting.... Good job... You get a yes.
Rubbercookie Says:
Yeah, we called us "red hat" back in the day though. w/e.
Oh and plzdon'tsay that changing the date in Pokémon Diamond is anything near hacking.

"Hacking involves computers."
wow.. you have open my mind.
Oh and btw, you shuld type "Accessories: COMPUTER NEEDED!" xD
Shawn Millican Says:
Manipulation is not a subcategory of hacking; thus, I also would like to mention the differentiation between hackers and 'crackers;' those who break programs and rave about it. Hacking has evolved (for lack of a better word) into a cyberculture, etcetera.
cellieruru Says:
Mmm. I agree. That's all I'm gonna say.

I remember we had this conversation.
Master of Mollusks Says:
I liked it, but I definitely suggest capitalizing the H in hack for the title.
Also, you say "Hacking involves computers."
Then you say:
"Even reality itself can be hacked.
More surprising, is that the human brain can."
This does not compute. The human brain and reality aren't computers. I suggest you take one or the other out, because it doesn't make much sense.
I like the piece a lot, though. You show that you really know what you're talking about, even though I don't know a thing about hacking.
White Wing Demon Says:
Completely true. People seem to only think about the black hats and forget completely about the white and red(or as you call it rouge) hats.

o.0; Hmmm... wow that sounds nifty. Thanks for the info!
