This is my first recording for Sheezy Art. I played this on alto recorder, and I just made up the melody as I went. The mp3 recording is a little scratchy, but I will fix this in my next performance.

"The Burrow of Delightful Sand" is just a random title I made, seeing that my furry character is a Fennec fox.

Warning: I apologize in advance if this comment sucks. :)

I have listened to this. I wish I could comment on this, but I don't know how. I'm not a very good critic of music, much less alto recorder improvisations. I wouldn't expect one to be as good as an expert piano improvisation, of course -- the latter instrument allows for polyphony, while the former does not. But to say an alto recorder improv sucks because it is not a piano improv would be akin to saying a black and white drawing sucks because it doesn't have color. I must judge this piece, then, as it is -- as an alto recorder improvisation. :)

First off, despite this song's monophony, I must admit that, likely due to the instrument used, it is very pretty, and reminds me of some forest or something. I would hope the melody could be developed a little more, and some other instruments thrown in to create a beautiful and lovely harmony, but heck! My only complaint, other than that, is that it sorta lacks structure; sometimes it sounds like a mishmash of various themes (which all happen to be in the key of F), rather than one cohesive theme. Then again, perhaps that is merely the nature of improvisation. What is improv, after all, but an expression of the state of one's mind in the form of music? I know my mind's rather random and volatile, and if I had the ability to improvise on an alto recorder, the results just might be even less structured-sounding than this.

So, uh. . . my only advice is to keep practicing, or something. Not to say this piece is bad, of course, but if you want to get beter at something you should probably practice. Probably. :)

I like it =) It sounds like a flute to me, but what do I know about music? (Note: I like flute music so that's intended as a compliment ). Only thing I noticed is that the volume gets really loud at some parts compared to others, but that may be intention or something...I dunno...maybe my speakers were just too loud I liked it though!
