Taken at Dachau concentration camp
This was the gate at the entrance to the camp, and for those who don't understand what it says, it translates to, "Work makes free" (or "work sets you free").
Dachau is roughly 20 or so minutes away from München by S-bahn and bus, so I was lucky enough to be able to visit it while in München.
And I consider myself lucky because I find WWII history to be very interesting, so to be able to go to a concentration camp and actually see what they were like (there was a museum) was great.
...and graphic =X
That day I discovered that I could take photos in either black and white, colour, or sepia...so I went B&W-happy the entire day

((what's sad is that I've had the camera for 3 years now and never knew I could do that))

Man...I knew I recognized that as soon as I saw the picture. I visited Dachau too...very, very moving. I remember it was tough to be in some of those places, especially in the "shower". Even though they (supposedly) never used it, I remember when we went in there, I stared at the ceiling the whole time and was just freaked out of my head.

The same phrase is over the gates at Auschwitz. Must have been their favourite lie to keep the inmates slogging away..

I visited a concentration camp too, 2 years ago
It just leaves one stare in awe and wonder how people could have done such things :(
Nice picture though, the black and white adds a lot to the atmosphere
