[Sweet Child]

Lay down, sweet child
Lay down your head and cry
Lay down, sweet child
Lay down your head and die

Lay down, sweet child
'Tis time to say goodbye
Lay down, sweet child
A blank look in your eyes

Lay down, sweet child
Gripped by Death's cold embrace
Lay down, sweet child
A ghostly pallid face

Lay down, sweet child
Lay down your head and cry
Lay down, sweet child
Lay down your head and die

Lay down, sweet child
A wound time will not heal
Lay down, sweet child
Your limbs as stiff as steel

Lay down, sweet child
Dressed in your best attire
Lay down, sweet child
Black dress dripped with red mire

Lay down, sweet child
Lay down your head and cry
Lay down, sweet child
Lay down your head and die

Lay down, sweet child
The blade, it took your life
Lay down, sweet child
Rescued from years of strife

Lay down, sweet child
The pain you knew is gone
Lay down, sweet child
Rejoice, for we have won

Lay down, sweet child
Lay down your head and cry
Lay down, sweet child
Lay down your head and die

A... macabre little dawdie, if I do say so myself.

I kinda like it, despite it's, er, extremely emo feel.

Reminds me of Depazu, 'cept she's not dead.

Very Nice, I love it Favd

geof Says:

reminds me of the traditional fold song, tom dooley. the chorus of the song goes:

Hang down your head, Tom Dooley
Hang down your head and cry
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley
Poor boy, you're bound to die

your poem is obviously waaaaaaaaaay different from the legend of tom dooley, but the choruses struck me as similar.
