Chapter 3: Human Transmutation

Three months have passed very quickly for the two young siblings and many things happened. The first mouth was them staying at the island – learning the saying that Izumi gave them - and the last two was training with Izumi Curtis. After that, they went back home and started reading about elements that constitute a human body.

The got the things they need and used their old house to do the human transmutation. They were in the basement which resembles storage room or cellar with various alchemic items such as test tubes, empty bottles, flasks, books, files, electronic equipment, and antiques scattered around the room. Sarah finished drawing up the formula circle in the center of the room for their experiment while Al put the raw materials into a large Petri dish.

“Alright, I finally finished it. Are you all done Al?” asked Sarah making some minor changes on the circle.

“Yeah. Can you help me?” Al said as Sarah nodded and walked over to him helping him put the large dish into the center of the one fourth the size drawn circle then put it down.

Sarah took out a pocket knife from right pocket, slitting her right index finger before handing the knife to Al who did the same thing that she did. The two siblings pointed their wounded fingers over the dish and each gave a drop of their own blood mixing it in with the raw materials.

“Alright... lets go over the components that make up the adult human body once again before we start.” Sarah said before she started listing off the components. “35 liters of water, 20 kilograms of carbon, 4 liters of ammonia, 1.5 kilograms of lime, 800 grams of phosphorus, 250 grams of sodium, 100 grams of saltpeter, 80 grams of sulfur, 7.5 grams of fluorine, 5 grams of iron, 3 grams of silicon, and trace amounts of fifteen other elements.”

Al nodded and then said, “I'll say we're good to go. But do you really think is this alright?”

“Yeah... we're one step away to bring mom back...” Sarah said walking out of the alchemic circle and got on her knees at the southern end of it waiting for Al.

Al sighed and joined Sarah's side by the southern end of the circle and both placed their hands at the edge. They smiled when the circle glowed with a bright white light surrounded both the circle and the kids themselves Their smiles quickly faded away as the color of the light changed into a darker color – even creating two dark vacuum voids - telling them somethings horribly wrong.

“Sarah, what's going on? Was this suppose to happen?” Al asked her sister in a scared tone.

Before she could say anything, many black tentacle-like hands suddenly shot out from the circle grabbing Al and then quickly disintegrating the young boy’s entire body starting with his hands. Sara tried to get to Al before he disappeared for good but more of the black tentacle-like hands grabbed onto her leg to keep from going anywhere. All she could do right now was watch in horror as her brother cease to exist.

“Al!” she cried out before the hands pulled her into the other two dark vacuum void and before she knew it, everything went dark.

Sarah regained her consciousness and felt as if she was on solid ground, but from studying her surroundings, she couldn’t quite tell where the “ground” began or started. Th only thing that she saw was the big bight light like void and a single pair of massive stone double doors with strange carvings etched into their surface. She saw some kind of large humanoid shaped black thing with violet eyes walking towards her before stopping a feet from her.

“Tell me, Sarah Elric, would you gave up anything as payment to get your brother back?” The humanoid asked looking at her or so she thought with it's lack of eyes that creeped her out a bit.

Without thinking, she told the thing, “Yes... I'll gave anything you want!”

“Good... now you may enter..." said the thing as it disappeared and the double stones showing her a dark room. The only lights that was there was on what looked a kind of glowing mathematical tree with 10 circles connected in all and at the bottom were feathery roots. The other light that she could see was like a bridge leading up the tree.

She stood up and slowly walked inside the door feeling a little weak for some strange reason. She looked around the darkness and freaked out to see eyes with mouths looking at her She tried to ignore them for now and stood in front of the tree and looked at it for minute before putting a hand on it. She couldn't understand it at first but she felt that a massive amount of information was being forced into her mind.

'Blood seal?' Sarah thought. 'True Knowledge ? What does all that mean!?'

The images as well as the information stopped and Sarah was forced to let go by burning her hand. All of a sudden, one of the shadowy things grabbed her left leg and pulled and she tried to stop him. However, it did nothing as the shadowy thing ripped off her left leg clean off as she let out an ear-piercing scream and before she it knew, blacked out.

Sarah once again woke up to find the whole room was in smoke but she could see Al's clothes laying there. She clutched her missing left leg that severed up to the knee by the thing with fresh blood running out. She noticed that within the pile of the gathered materials, it appears something was moving or struggling to move at least. As the smoke cleared, the thing moving appears to be a living dismembered black corpse with its horrifying head glaring up-side-down upon its creator.

Sarah let out a scream of terror as she backed away knocking a large 7-foot suit of armor and it's head off. She remembered something about a seal that could bind a person's soul to an object containing iron. She went right to work to drew the seal below the base of the neck at the back of the suit using her blood. She was finished and then drew the same ones on both her arms and legs wanting to gave them up as payment to save her brother.

She placed arm her hands on both sides of the armor and it started to grow as a blue bight light. The same void that took Al and her away appear beside Sarah grabbing her right arm pulled it hard that it two came right off, then it was gone. The light died down and Sarah felt on her back feeling the pain of her missing arm and leg. She could hear the armor moving telling her that the whole thing worked as it started to put it's head back on.

“Sister!? What happened to you!?” Al's voice said coming from the armor and ran to her side when he noticed that he wasn't in his own body. “What happened to me?”

“I bound your ... soul into this suit of armor ... that i learned...” Sarah said weakly before closing her eyes.

Al looked to see if they bought Mom back but all he saw was something that wasn't human which shocked him. Picking up his sister and getting up, he ran out of basement and out of the house, heading to Winry's place. When he was out of sight and not looking back, a hooded figure entered the house.
