Name: Crypthound

Environment: There are three main areas that crypthounds inhabit: the desert plains, dense forests and the main city of Laynaria.

Type: Quad/bipedal

Bred from: crypthounds are a full blood species.

Life span: crypthounds have the ability to survive for up to 150 years. Yet their life style and some birth defects average their life span to around 75 - 100.

Colors: crypthounds are usually earth tone colors such as: tan, black, grey, brown, maroon and orange. Although completely albino crypthounds have been born.

Markings: Natural markings include black marks highlighting the bony ridges on their paws and ears. They have dark areas surrounding their eyes. Horizontal stripes on their muzzles appear in males and small rectangular shapes are found on the females muzzle. Their pelts are normally multi-toned colors.

Diet: A crypthounds diet is based solely on their moral standpoint. In the larger colonies fish and lesser organisms are eaten and farmed. Although in the lawless areas of Laynair they have been known to enslave humans, swifthorns, and other high ranking races for consumption.

Culture: Rank among the crypthound society is shown by dying their long hair with bright dyes. The brighter the color the higher ranking the individual. They also have extravagant hair styles such as braids, long flowing hair, and even dread-locks.

Government: In the main colony there is one leader that keeps tabs on the other two smaller ones. Although all three colonies have leaders, he/she is the one that is assigned to keep order. Yet trouble arises constantly because of the extreme differences in each society. The leader in the main colony is elected based on family history, yet if one member causes a ruckus and is demoted the next highest ranking family gets to take over. The other two colonies leaders are decided partially by voting and partially by an all out brawl between the two candidates.

Personality: Personality is based on the bloodlines of the individual and the individual themselves. Although they are natural fighters there are exceptions.

Body Description: A crypthounds jaw is long, thin and filled with razor sharp teeth and two long canines that overlap the bottom jaw. Their nostrils are slitted and slightly resemble a horses but smaller. The ears on the male are long and erect with hard ridges on the back side. They are very thick and stiff. The females ears are shorter and more rounded. They have large mouths and their grins extend almost all the way to their ears. They have long muscular bodies and are able to run on all fours or walk on two legs. Their hands have four fingers and one long thumb that is bent backwards; the same goes for their feet .Like their ears, they also have boney protrusion on their hands and feet. The males have thin whip-like tails and the females tails are thicker and slightly shorter. Some crypthounds are incredibly muscular. These individuals are used as soldiers and guards, and the others mainly work with projectile weapons such as guns.

Normal Height: On four legs 4 ft 0' at the withers (base of the shoulder) on two legs (depending on age, sex, and parents) 11 ft and up.
