I had to keep going. There was no way I could let myself stop. The Council had them...I couldn't let this be the end. Especially since it was my fault they were gone. I repress a cry of frustration, oblivious to the fact that it's pouring down hard.
"Dawn..."
Oh great.
Xun reaches out. "Dawn, stop it." Suddenly he has me in his arms. And for once, I don't care. "It's okay." he whispers, as if it's going to make it better.
I finally let myself cry. He's wrong, I know he is--but it's nice to hear people trying to make you feel better.
