Gaia Online is a big forum website that recently had a Film Festival Contest thing. The limits were that it basically had to be under two minutes and incorporate the Gaia logo. The winner would have their video shown in Gaia Cinemas, which is kind of like YouTube, except it allows you to throw items (such as fireballs, kisses, tomatoes, etc.) at the screen in a theater-type environment.

That in mind, this is basically the story of a office guy posting in the wrong forum, and then getting flamed for it. Under the assumption it'd be shown in the cinemas, I wanted to incorporate the user-video interaction by encouraging the viewers to throw fireballs at the appropriate time.
----

How it was made(copied from a gaia post I made):

We used a Green screen, HDV cameras, Adobe Premiere Pro 2, AfterEffects 7 Pro with the Keylight extension, and Photoshop CS2. We also used Adobe Audition to edit voices, since we had ditched some of the audio from the studio(with the green screen), and the voice overs didn't echo. "Ugh, reported" and everything the fat guy(Miller/magnoliafan) says up until he gets flamed were all recorded later and then edited to make it seem like it echoed with the rest of the voices that took place in the studio.

A lot of work went into it. We spent probably 48 hours on the project (Actual time it took place was 2 and a half days, nonstop, minus sleep and eating)
It took about half a week to get the script and actors, though, because we wanted to make certain things happen, and with only 2 minutes to work it in, it was difficult to figure out how to make it work (the interaction between audience and video wasn't as much as I had hoped because of this).

Anyway, it only cost $8 USD to make - we bought the shorts of Ake Jillinger and another shirt, which we burned fireballs into later for Miller/magnoliafan from the thrift store.

Everything else was borrowed from the nearby school for free, and the actors and crew (which mainly consisted of two people, but technically involved 4 - 5) were friends. =)

In addition, we shot all actors seperately, which means in the original footage, everyone is talking to themselves, by themselves, in front of the green screen. This is because there were size limitations on the green screen(of course), but also because, since the green screen scenes took place "inside the internet", we wanted it to look more flat.

All in all the video came out better than we thought it would, and while it was less than what I wanted it to be originally, it's still awesome (in our eyes). =3

Edit July 4, 2007 - Thanks for the front page! <3
edit2: Lawl, for a whole 2 seconds.
