The very act of love making, full of rapidly succeeding impulses and a plethora of intense emotions, is symbolized in the blurred cross hatchings that surround the womb of the figure. Flowing from this passionate area, are the life building juices of the male, which move in a spiraling fashion until ending the journey within the sexual center of the plant; this visual metaphor was inspired by the sensual and suggestive works of artist Georgia O'Keefe, whom often depicted flowers as vaginal metaphors within her paintings.
The violet hued moon represents the seductive inner nature of woman once the lights die down, and as such, the moon is not shown to be full.
I used the contours of

’s piece
Birds to simulate the flow and natural grace of the human female body, with the figure depicted artistically representing my lover during pregnancy. Using a series of multi-hued lavender paint strokes, I progressively rendered aspects of the feminine physique, such as the breasts, to showcase the softer and gentler aspects that make up a woman.
To that end, the swollen abdomen containing the unborn child was created through the use of a Plumiera flower petal, representing not only her favorite flower, but of the passionate and life-sustaining characteristics that make the plant unique amidst other foliage.
