Here I Am

Staring ahead
seeing nothing but shadows as I kneel,
hands dangling helpless at my sides,
tears streaming down my face
unnoticed by all.
She stands behind me,
overcome by sadness,
fading into shadow
knowing all too well,
knowing not at all
the pain I feel.
As I stare ahead
powerless to do anything,
no familiar faces,
no looks of sympathy
I see only engulfing darkness.
Wanting just to shout,
"Here I am!
Doesn't anyone hear me?!
Doesn't anyone care?!"
Answered only by silence
and the sound of my sobs
as they walk past,
leaving me unnoticed on my kness,
tears streaming down my face
unnoticed as I whisper in anguish,
"Here I am."

World of Sadness was originally going to be named Here I Am. This is a version that was made to encompess the original and improve it. This one is slightly different than anything I've ever posted. This is the first piece of poetry that I edited, and more than that, had someone help me edit it. So I hope you enjoy.
