As the time slowly moves forward
My mind begins to wander
Thinking of the past

Thinking of the present
As I try not to step backwards
Assaulted by my mind
Thoughts of the world
Thoughts of friends
Thoughts of those I love
Talking all the while
Hoping to ease my mind
Worry for a friend
Worry for my family
Worry for the world
Fighting again
Playing over in my head
Differences in values
Differences in opinion
Differences in life
All these thoughts
Constantly wandering
Wanting to go to bed
Wanting to be somewhere else
Wanting to be here
Oh what a powerful tool
Oh what a powerful enemy
Spending an eternity wandering
Never quelling the tide
