Well, it didn't exactly turn out like I had hoped... the drawing was looking good until I added the lips, chin and hair lol. I would really appreciate some constructive criticism on how i could make this better. here's the reference pic: http://www.canmag.com/images/front/people2/gerard3.jpg
Please help! thank you

I think the chin is fine, but the sideburn would have better been left off, and the lips are to high, and a little to big...

All together, you have captured my man with greatness.

I love the contrast and different values used. It makes the picture worth looking onto. Often people do pencil portraits and sketch way too light, or way too thick!! >< You did a perfect job!

Love it, love it, love it!!!!
You captured my Gerry almost perfectly!

The only thing I can find that could use working on is his mouth. Something's off. I think it's the teeth. But it could be me. I'm not too fond of teeth in pictures.

For not having a reference, great job! Personally... the hair looks fine.. the chin almost looks as if someone knocked him one.. but it's not major. The mouth... is a little distorted... the best advice I can give is try to look at some other images in his angle with lips/mouths and go from there.
Once again.... great job!

I found the reference! http://www.canmag.com/images/front/people2/gerard3.jpg Yopu seriously did wicked awesome drawing. The shading is very good and has nice tones and values. This is just a personal preference, but there *could* be a little more darker areas (for contrast) but you don't have to take that seriously...Most of my drawings turn out too dark as a result of that
I like the highlights pulled out in the hair, and how you drew the different strands. And also the background. A lot of the dark backgrounds are too harsh and kind of overwhelm the picture, but you did a nice job of not doing that =)
These are just my opinions
Okay. From what I can see, the forehead is a little too big. Lowering it would make the shape of his face more...even, maybe? I dunno, I just know it would help. Also, the left eye kind of looks squished. Widening it on the right end would solve that.
With thie lips, the left end needs to be lower and the right needs to be higher. The farthest right part of the jaw should be more angular, too.
Please, don't really take me too seriosly, though...I just started trying to give crits, and I'm also only fourteen
