She readied herself, at once wanting to both call it off, give some excuse for not meeting, and also rush to her car, flying through the streets to meet him.

But she hadn't gotten his number.

She forced herself to choose action between the two options her mind screamed at her, and so she dressed anew, shedding work clothing for something nicer, teasing her hair into submission, smoothing unruly wisps back into place.

"No harm in talking," she kept murmuring, assuring herself she was able to take care of herself; defend herself in any situation.

But the twinges of questioning and fear were still there. She ignored them as best she could, only heading downstairs to leave after a long consideration of whether or not to bring a weapon, on the off chance...
