There's not much I want to say to explain this one.
It was done in pencil, then cleaned and colored in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. I tried a different shading technique that is a composite of several different methods I've seen other people use. It seems comfortable for me, which usually means I'm onto something.
Edit: I guess I should explain a bit, not that anyone will be reading this. But my husband is a USAF reservist, who's already-extended-once contract is up. However there is a stop-loss on right now to prevent the continued hemmoraging of reserve and guard troops. Short version is, despite his contract being over and fufilled, his is on tour again. A maximum of two fifteen minute calls a week is not a lot to live on. Particularly the first month or so was extremely difficult for me this time. It took much longer for my coping mechanisms to kick in. Partly because we bought a house relatively recently and for a lot of other reasons, probably the largest of which is that we are closer now than the last time this happened. The kids are a lot more aware of him being gone this time as well. This was drawn during that first while that he was gone. I just want him home. But that's exactly what I won't get for another 2 1/2 months or so, depending on whether the AF honors the original end date on the orders, and whether the AF can find a plane this time.
