Limiting how many times a person gets a Front Page

A Proposal to limiting how many times a single artist may get Front Page:

Dear Sheezy Artists:

Lets face the facts: We have some very wonderful and VERY TALENTED artists here at Sheezy Art and by all means they deserve they're front pages as much as anybody. But there are some artists here that are SO popular, they can paint a dot on a paper and it will get faved into front page. There are also some artists out there that make multiple accounts to spam "No's" to some pieces and then "Yes" to they're own or they're friends JUST to see they're own works on Front Page (ridiculous, yes, but they exist!)

I believe one of the more finer, important parts of the Front Page showcase was to help ALL artists get seen. Not just the ones with a greater majority of watchers.

So I propose this! How about a cap on how many times an artist can get a Front Page in a day or a week or a month (we can hammer out the details later). Some artists are very popular already, and I don't believe they need to have a front page every time they submit an artwork because if they are hitting frontpage every day, they evidently already have a LOT of people watching them and their works will spread and be seen regardless. But some artists have very good work, and struggle so much just to be *barely* nudged out of Front Page by a more popular artists who has already been featured on Front Page MANY times before and happens to have more watchers.

This will not only help less popular artists get seen, but may actually help prevent (YES PREVENT) those artists out there that make multiple accounts just to fave they're own works. This may even discourage the masses of artists out there that vote down other worthy submissions to again, see they're own works on front page instead.

An Example: If an artist has gotten, say, three of their works onto front page in one month, then perhaps there can be a system in place to prevent them from reaching front page again for that month, and then this will reset the next month, and so on. Eventually, all the really popular artists will be capped from reaching front page, and will set the stage for some other, less popular and less seen, artists to taste a moment in a spotlight they have work hard for.

This may truly help fine tune so many things on Front Page and some problems with the Yes/No system we may be seeing, and I would be so enamored with the Sheezy Cast if they could pull this trick off in the coding (because I know this is easier said than done, indeed). This may even help in the Fanart Vs. Original controversy in some ways!

Please, if you agree with this idea, submit your own ideas! Let's siscuss them, and send them along to your friends to see if we can help revolutionize the Front Page to be a better place for ALL Sheezy Artists (not just the populars, not just the fanartits, and not just the original artists, but ALL artists)

Thank you for your time!

This is NOT a rant, this is only a suggestion and I figured I'd get my word heard here at the Front Page Revolution, and I feel like this is also one of the problems that may or may not affect the front page.
Please come to this with an open mind and see if we can't help make Sheezy a better place, even for the little artists that aren't always seen on Front Page.

*Edit: Now that it has been pointed out to me, I have discovered the obvious, and disabled the vote system for this work. I am blonde, thank you =.= *

I totally agree with you here, ^^

wolf5674 Says:

Hellz yes you have my support! I pass the word around!

ChazDragoon Says:

Tch..they should just dump the damn thing. I've grown old listeing to people whine over something so trival and pointless in the long run. (i'm not saying you are, just so you know.)

I dont care 3 ways to sunday about this "masterpeice" thing..none of my works get it, but even if it did, big deal, it will be soon replaced by someone elses "masterpeice". Are the people "masterpeicing" your/mine/peoples stuff going to get you a job with some company? No. Will it get you temporary fame and some ego? Yes. Will it really matter down the road 5 years from now? Hell no.

They need to deep-six the system, if only to shut the whining people up (and give the annoying spammers one less thing to do.)

Kerrigore Says:

Agreed however there is a simple solution sheezy has already posed: the fact that the voting option can be turned off. I think popular artists need to take it upon themselves to opt out of being on the front page. Of course, I know that clearly doesn't happen but the fact that the option is there and people don't use it makes me a bit frustrated. I know I use that option sometimes. It's not that difficult.

engle Says:

I love the front page cap idea, it's a really good one, and maybe this time the admins would actually do something about it.

natzy23 Says:

I like this idea, and something else I feel that NEEDS to be done is that is one votes NO then they HAVE to leave a comment explaining WHYand if they don't the vote just gets reset

Egan Says:

So if several peices the user posted in a short time are true masterpeices made by them, they can only get credit for a few?
If the system was perfect, people wouldn't just be getting comments and frontpaged, so there's no need to change anything.
Sorry, but this idea is not going to work.

But I do agree that the popularity aspect is out of hand.

Shadow Dinosaur Says:

This is very true.

Lucifael Says:

you gave a lot of interesting points here and have my support. Howevrer i find it funny that you asked not to get voted to front page with this in you descrip. Just goes to show y how many people actually read those eh? Oh well such as life.

Smiling Devil Says:

I fully agree with you, although there is now also a button to cancel votes, is this I think a better idea. Sheezy mostly forget how people turn on from being on the front page with their work and just a button for cancelling that is (I think) too much responsibility...

(one minor thing: a typo: "sisscus-->disscus" the first line off the second stanza^^
