Relive the Memories

"Stop running so fast!" yelled a woman. Her voice rang out while a chuckle of laughter followed. Of course, this chuckle of laughter came from a man.

"I told you! You have to catch me first," replied the man.

The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and the breeze was just perfect - perfect for a walk in the park. Leaves fell around them as the woman kept trying to catch the man. The man continued to laugh and tease the woman as he ran ahead of her each time she got closer. The woman had a pout on her face - almost as cute as a little girl.

"Devin!" whined the woman. Then ... she slipped. "Ah!"

The man's eyes widen as he hurried to her side. Her eyes were closed tightly, waiting for the pain but it never came. She slowly opened her eyes only to realize that he had caught her. She could feel his arms wrapped around his waist and it doesn't seem like he was going to let go anytime soon. She smiled sheepishly and blushed.

"So ... um, I caught you! So I win!" she brightly smiled at him. He looked at her and raised an eyebrow.

"Cheater." He said it with a smile. She grinned at him.

"I did not! It was an accident! You could've let me fall instead, you know," she replied.

"I would never want you to get hurt," he whispered - his whisper had a deeper meaning and it caused a spark of feelings. Her heart started to race, and blood was rushing to her cheeks. She giggled nervously before she wiggled out of his embrace and took a seat at a nearby bench. His gaze lingered at her figure a few moments before he, too, took a seat at the bench next to her.

She looked at and gave him one of her bright smiles.

"So Devin!"

"Yes?"

"Do you have any interest in anyone?" she questioned. He tilted his head at the question and blinked.

"What do you mean?"

"Like ... do you like anyone?" He looked away and his face had one of those small smiles.

"Well, there is this one person..."

"Really? Do I know her?" she asked. He looked at her.

"Perhaps."

"Oh! I want to meet her!" she said with enthusiasm. He was still looking at her.

"I'll be sure to give her a bowl of strawberries," he said. The woman looked at him and faked a pout.

"That's not fair! You know I love strawberries! How come she gets some and I don't?" She shouted while poking him repeatedly. He chuckled and took a hold of her hands to stop her from poking him.

"I'll give you that bowl of strawberries," he said. Everything stopped. Thoughts whirled in her head as emotions surfaced. She stared into his eyes - his eyes held more than just friendship ... much, much more. She giggled nervously.

"You should save it for your love interest! I was just kidding anyways," she said. Just play it off. Don't jump to conclusions. She slowly pulled her hands away but he held them in a firm grip yet tender at the same time. She innocently starred questioningly into his eyes.

"I like you." That hit the mark. Silence. Once again, she giggled nervously - telling herself that he was joking.

"Don't joke around like that, Devin! Gosh!"

"I'm not." She couldn't look at him. "It's okay. You can tell me the truth, you know. You can tear me apart." Those words ripped through her. They shocked her. She couldn't help but to look at him after what he said.

"I don't want to hurt you," she replied. He smiled.

"It's okay to hurt me."

Smiling Devil Says:

I like the ending, but I think the beginning is somewhat cliché...

Lark Pash Says:

sometimes these random things become big scenes in later stories. Keep track of this...very sweet. I like the bowl of strawberries thing. I'd suggest developing a plot for a short story and writing it around this scene alone.

Ozzyturtle123 Says:

How sweet!
