This is a super-deformed illustration of a 1982 DeLorean DMC-12, which has to be my all-time favourite piece of automotive styling.
Made famous by the controvesy surrounding John Zachary DeLorean's questionable methods of funding the production of vehicles (an accusation he was later cleared of) and, of course, the wonderful 'Back To The Future' films - although this piece of art is nothing to do with the vehicle's Hollywood feature.
It may be cartoon styled but i've made sure that the picture is as accurate as possible within such a style - why spare effort on a cel-shaded tribute to my favourite auto? Here is the DMC-12 in it's 'pure' form. No props, no gizmos, no Flux Capacitor - just the car.
I sketched this in late 2001 while watching 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure', and found it a month ago. I decided to run it through Photoshop with an appropriate shading style and here it is - better late than never, eh?
I'm SO getting one if I have the cash when i'm older. They only cost about $25,000 see - bargain. Small price to pay for such eccentric, clean-cut retro-stylishness. C'mon, those vertically-opening gull wing doors (clik-whuuuuush) are reason enough to get one!
