The Perfect Doll: Ch 1 - Sleepless Forever.
The Perfect Doll
Sleepless Forever
"I didn't expect it to end this way.." He lightly spoke as his back was turned away from her. The cliff in front of him stood weakly beneath his feet, and the ocean roared loudly against the rocks as they crashed down. The sky was an eerie shade of dark-grey and blue, with clouds ensnaring themselves in the luscious smooth colors that faded into a sea of endless forever. Her dark red eyes stared at him, unmoved by any emotion. The wind blew horrendously at them, causing her long black hair to dance upright and sway with the breeze, and his hair to ruffle messily across his forehead. A long sword with a long hilt could be seen lodged into a nearby rock, the only thing between them that separated them. As the wind died down, he turned and looked at her. She was covered entirely in blood; dripping down slowly through her black lace clothing and her soft ribbon headpiece that was tied tightly under her chin. The exposed parts of her legs and arms shown the blood more fully. It was a deep rich red color and smelled of a putrid raw rusty iron odor. The scent was very strong, it floated in the air and seemed to seep into every empty crevice of his nostrils.
The forest behind the girl seemed to slowly carry a light orange glow. Dozens of what seemed like torches of fire horded around the trees like bright fireflies. The voices of an angry mob traveled into their ears. The light orange glow seemed to glow stronger as they neared the cliff. He looked at her intensely, not angry, nor worried. His expression seemed to hold amusement for the young girl.
"I want you to kill me, before they get to me first."
Her eyes were blank and she said nothing.
"Please! I ask of you, this one thing... I love you.. Please kill me."
Her hands slowly rose to her side and she began to step towards her. With three long strides of her legs she was near the sword. Her right hand briskly grabbed at the base of the hilt and the sword lifted out with ease; her left hand lightly held the end of the sword's hilt. With four long strides, she was in front of him. With an upward slash and the power of her full weight, his head was gone. Completely detached from his body, it rolled slightly down the cliff and stopped. It looked as if his body was buried with just his head out in plain view. Her arm was still upraised and her back was turned away. The bangs of her hair covered her red eyes from view. She turned and began to descend to where his head lay. Gently falling to her knees like the light breeze that flowed around her, she kneeled in front of the head and lightly grasped the side of the head in her hands, and staring blankly into his dead eyes.
"And I... Love you as well."
The orange glows of the fire torches were almost directly above her. "The devil child! Kill her!" She slowly stood to her feet. Facing the crowd, a gruesome silence fell over them as they witnessed the head and the decapitated body. "The incarnation of pure evil is she.. We should have killed her..." a man that was leading the mob spoke aloud. A muffled half whispered, half shouted response was heard. "Kill the girl! Kill the devil child!" The mob continued it's angry cries and calls towards the girl, who just simply stood there and listened. It wasn't until they began to close in on her did she move an inch. They pushed her backwards towards the edge of the cliff until she had no more room between her, the crowd, and the roaring ocean behind her. There was only one thing that seemed to be common sense for her, and that was to jump. Slowly stepping backwards and still facing the oncoming crowd, she lightly pushed off the edge of the cliff, and fell head first into the crashing waves.
Cheers of joy rang about the members of the villagers. They knew well that no human could withstand the fall of a thirty-foot drop. One of the men peered over the edge and saw a scene that horrified him. Cerulean waters flowed over her body as she fell into the menacing ocean. Like driftwood, her body lazily floated on top of the water. Her eyes blankly stared back towards the crowd, only allowing a small smile to appear on her lips as she drifted into the endless darkness that is the sea. A hush fell over the man as she slowly turned around to announce his discovery and soon they realized what they have done. They had let her escape.
Her body sank into the cool dense salty waters leaving a trail of light reddish orange as she drifted deeper towards the bottom. The dried on blood that clung onto her body came off unwillingly from her skin and clothes. The blood floated through the water like strands of soft shimmering silk that collided into each other with the current of the water. As she reached the bottom, her body began to lightly float upwards again, as if a force pulled her back up to the surface. Carved into the side of the cliff was a mouth of a cavern. Her body resurfaced there near the shore, far away from view of the angry crowds. A cloaked masked person stood there, watching her and examining her body. Swift movements brought him close to where she lay and he picked her up into his arms. Surprisingly, her arm came loose from its socket and fell out of her long sleeves to the ground. He didn't react. He wasn't at all surprised that she fell apart in his arms because; she was a doll after all. The first moving doll that was ever created, no controls needed at all. Her creation is still a mystery for many. So they consider her to be the devil's advocate.
"Little one. It's time to rest. Sleep until that day your master reclaims you." The man whispered silently into her ear. Eyes like blood red rubies opened behind her eyelids and she looked up at him. Chilling winds that felt like icicles swept into the cavern, blowing his hood off. Intent grey eyes stared pleasantly into hers. She turned her head straightforward and closed her eyes. She knew her task was done for now, and she would need to wait until her master were to return to her. She stiffened, and stopped moving completely. The man with the grey eyes slowly kneeled and picked up her fallen arm. Then exited the cavern, returning to the overgrown forest where the sun was slowly rising up into the sky, as if to mark the deadly deed that had been sealed.
