From my Figure Painting for Illustration class. The assignment was to illustrate any kind of text. I picked a favorite story.
This work was a major breakthrough for me. I found that I could suddenly paint when I gave up trying to work like a painter and started applying the qualities of my drawings to paint: distinct, block shapes, bright, bold colors, cartoony exaggeration of everything, and flat cell shading, rather than trying to blend values and hues. Happy. That is to say, I do my best painting when I'm trying to work as much like JoJo as possible, rather than feeling obligated to paint after someone else's style. Now
there's an encouraging thought!

(I know all that probably sounds very silly, but it's something I've been struggling with for years!)
Happy.

The colors are seriously rockin'--and I am actually mostly drawn to the strokes of paint that make up the background. It has a texture to it, and I like eet.

This is amazing!
I love how theres no outlines, it gives it such a unique look! The colors are so bright and well chosen, they fit together perfectly, and I love the textures in the background.

The first thing i said when i saw this was "whoa" i love the intense bright colors , it really makes it jump out at you but at the sametime make you smile. It really reminds me of JoJo
. And as for struggling with other styles.. i know the exact pain your going through.. or were going through its not strange at all! Your own style is best

Woaoaaaa, really. I've tried to work with acrylics myself, but I just can't get colors right. And these are so wonderfully vibrant, they just make me staaare. Hahaha, and plus for little red riding hood, a thing I've tried to render humorously myself, but yours is just gorgerous. And it's a childhood favorite, oh myyy.
The painting style is wonderful too, doesn't it make you happy to finally find to yourself? Ehehe, I wish I was as happy with my own coloring style... :/
ZiggyBuggy Says:
Holy smokes, Miss Jojo! This is wonderful! It's like...a whole new take on the story without really changing it at all! It reminds me of a song, too...I just...can't think what it is right now.

Hmm. I'll get back to you on that one. But this is fantastic!
